My husband and I have begun to travel the country by RV. We recently had occasion to stop at Lock 30 Woodlands RV Campground Resort in Lisbon. What a wonderful rather deep woods heavily forested spot! The pull through sites made it easy. There was also a bocce court that was lighted and you don?t see to many of those. Campers should be aware that it gets very dark at night!!! The joys of NOT being in the city so make sure you have a flash light but do try to find an open spot in the trees to star gaze.

We learned that Lock 30 is a 4 seasons campground so we just might put it back on our docket to return for some fall color. It could fill up fast on the weekends, so reserve in advance or perhaps look to go mid week.

  1. All the campgrounds we have stayed at, the charge is for 2 people with additional people paying a fee including visitors.

Our stays at Lock 30 have been fantastic. The quiet picturesque setting was just what we are looking for. After check in I had no need for the office staff to give me details on how to camp, so why would it matter if the office staff had ”camping experience”. The young lady was professional, courteous and explained to us that we pay for what we use with our electricity. More then what we could say about other places where the front desk people are rude. Thank you to a campground that doesn’t make those of us who conserve our electricity usage pay for those who need to light the world while camping. I guess I am not a needy camper so irregular office hours didn’t bother me.

We go camping to get away from the world so we could care less if the “Owner and staff are extremely impersonal” , we didn’t go there to be friends with them, we go there for the amenities which are top notch. Why would you care where the owner lives as long as the bathrooms are clean, nice amenities and off the beaten path without the hustle and bustle. The Olympic size pool is clean, the bathrooms are clean, the grounds are clean, and the professional size bocce court and the landscaping is fabulous.

I guess if you are a camper that needs to be entertained by someone else then Lock 30 isn’t the place for you to go. If you want to go someplace where the city lights are NOT blaring down on you and you can get back to nature with top notch facilities, then Lock 30 Woodlands RV Resort is the place to go. We have stayed there every year for the last 8 years and watched this place blossom.

This campground is highly recommended from a seasoned 30+ year camper.

  2. Don’t worry – it should fill up fast, but does not! What a waste of a beautiful campground. There are less than 75 seasonal and weekend sites at Lock 30. The property is beautiful and the restrooms are clean. However, this is overshadowed by poor management and higher than normal fees. Extra fees are charged for every adult or child over 2 people in the RV or tent site. If you have a visitor come to your site for the day, they are charged $6. It cost me $60./night for a family of four. Owner lives out of state and on-site management has no camping experience. Neither are in touch with what camping is all about. With the exception of 2 or 3 holiday weekends, this campground is practically empty year round. Any longtime camper knows this is a pretty good indication of it’s flaws. Lock 30 comes off as a business investment rather than pleasant place for an enjoyable family camping experience. Owner and staff are extremely impersonal. The office and camp store do not have regular hours and frequently not open at convenient times. Observations and conversations with fellow visitors and seasonals indicate the same reasons for weekend campers not returning and the majority of seasonal campers pulling out to greener pastures. Although children are allowed, they don’t appear to be welcome. With many a state park as picturesque at half the cost, happy family campers need not apply at Lock 30. Beware – websites are deceiving.
