Drummer Boy Campground in Gettysburg, PA is a great place for families to camp. ¬†They have nice sites, and there is plenty of space between them… they’re not “stacked up against each other” like in a lot of places and they are clean, clean, clean… and lots of trees for shade.

The people working there are helpful and very friendly. They made us feel right at home.

They have over 400 sites, 12 cabins, 27 cottages and 10 lofts. The camp store is well stocked with groceries, battlefield inspired gifts and souvenirs, as well as RV and camping supplies. They have a snack bar with a menu of hot and cold items. The game room has video and arcade games, and air hockey tables. They also have a mini golf course. Other amenities include a whirlpool spa and two heated pools. Located at the rear of the campground is a large heated activity pool and 250ft water slide.

The campground is within minutes of battlefield tours, ghost walks and a new visitor center. It is also located within easy driving to many area attractions in Washington D.C., Baltimore MD., Lancaster and Hershey Pennsylvania.

There are things for all ages to do… We plan on returning next summer!

  1. We were very pleased with this campground. We stayed Oct 15th thru 18th 2009. Very large sites (311 and 312) Our Fire Fighters take 2 group trips a year… a spring trip and a fall trip. It is organized by our Fire Fighters Union IAFF Local 2498 (York County and City of Williamsburg, Virginia) This year our fall trip was to Gettysburg with day trips to Hershey and Lancaster. We stayed at The Drummer Boy and will stay again in the future. We travel with large travel trailers 24 to 35ft. Fifth Wheels 28 to 40ft and we have some fire fighters that stay in cabins and or bring tents. This campground offers it all. Check in was extremely quick. Large campground. Clean Rest Rooms, Large sites, Roads could use some TLC… it rained for 4 days while we were there and there were a lot of water filled pot holes. A little pricy. Very expensive WiFi per day. $6.00 per day is much to much. It appears they are pushing to fill sites with seasonal. If that happens it will probably be a place we will not return. I have RV’d for more than 40 years been from one coast to the other visiting nearly every state. On a scale from 1 to 10. I would rate this campground a 8. Beverly in the front office was extremely friendly and helpful..

  2. I feel one negative customer service feedback is the fact that if you don’t mention the coupon at the time of making the reservation you can no longer use it. I feel that as long as you call back before the actually time that you reserved they should honor this coupon. I really felt like cancelling the weekend then calling back to rebook in order to use this coupon. I can understand that fact of not being able to present this when checking in but there is no reason for not being able to use it when you just called the day before.

  3. I wouldn’t recommend this place. I came in late on Friday and they were in a rush to check me in. I didn’t get no map and it was dark. I stopped to ask one of their employees. He told me to follow him. He took me through a narrow pass that my rv couldn’t fit. This guy Mike that works there damaged my rv and the general manager Burt wouldn’t pay for repairs. He wanted my insurance to call his. I think they should repair it.

  4. Very nice campground! Clean, friendly staff, knowledgeable of the area and things to do. Great campgound for familys with kids, because there is plenty to do. Big pool with a hottub for adults only, stocked fishing pond too. This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever stayed at. Only negative… we camped here in our motorhome summer 2003 and it was very crowded. Don’t get me wrong… summer is generally busy, but it was packed with people!

  5. This is a really nice campground. It is one of our favorites. The bathrooms are spotless and there are many, many things to do for the whole family. There is a nice fishing pond and a really nice pool with a hottub right next to it for adults only.
