Wekiwa Springs State Park – Apopka, FL
Wekiwa Springs State Park campground is beautiful, with large level sites and plenty of shade. The park is located at the headwaters of the Wekiva River, the beautiful vistas within this park offer a glimpse of what Central Florida looked like when Timucuan Indians fished and hunted these lands.
The campground is very wooded, and most sites have a nice private atmosphere. Canoeists and kayakers can paddle along the Wekiva River and Rock Springs Run. Thirteen miles of trails provide opportunities for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. There is no pool, but there is a nice spring fed swimming hole that’s absolutely perfect on a hot summer day.
Wekiwa Springs State Park is not too far from area restaurants and shopping too and just one hour from most central Florida attractions. We’re planning on spending some time here this winter! Can’t wait!
