The Enota Mountain Retreat is highly recommended if you want a quiet atmosphere surrounded by National Forest.

It is nestled between mountains with numerous streams and waterfalls running right through the campground. There are cabins, RV sites (full hookups) and tent sites. There is a playground, fishing pond and an organic farm where fresh vegetables in season are available for purchase plus numerous farm animals for children to visit. Some meals are available on weekends.

The Lodge has a small store and native American jewelry and crafts for sale. This is a very conservation oriented park with a friendly and helpful staff. Numerous attractions are close by including Brasstown Bald Mountain (highest peak in GA), Georgia Mountain Fair, Alpine Helen and numerous natural scenic areas and hiking trails. It is a not-for-profit organiztion and there is no sales tax.

  1. We stayed here in August due to a change of plans from hurricane Irene. It was much more than I expected in such a off the beaten path place. The waterfalls were beautiful to see. We had a small waterfall right outside our cabin that we got to see every morning we were there. Enota Mountain Resort is close to Helen, GA; which was a beautiful little town filled with lots to see and do. Hiawassee, GA is also nearby with lakes for swimming and boating. The cabin was very clean and exceeded our expectations. It was a very peaceful place to get away and we will definitely return there for another stay.

  2. We stayed here Aug 25 – 29th as a last minute change due to hurricane Ireane. The people who worked there bent over backwards to accomadate us in one of the cabins. The cabin was very clean and far exceded our expeitaions, as well as the entire park. There are hiking trails to beautiful water falls making this a lot better than a “sit around” campgrounds. It is very easy to get around the area which is very beautiful and a lot of fun. Very highly recommend staying here, I will be.
