If you travel I-95, you’ve seen the billboards for South of the Border. Located right at the North Carolina/South Carolina state line, South of the Border is a perfect example of the term “tourist trap”.

The complex includes gift shops, restaurants, amusements and stores all under a giant metal sombrero that can be seen miles before you get there. The complex also included “Camp Pedro”, a surprisingly comfortable RV stop that we’ve had the opportunity to stay at several times.

Camp Pedro is neat, clean and quiet… it’s really a nice campground and reasonably priced. This campsites are paved and they have great security. The folks who manage the property are friendly and helpful. The campground has large pull-thru sites with full hook-ups.

Easy on/off I-95. Plenty of things to do to keep you and the kids amused and occupied. It’s a great overnite RV stop!

  1. We are at Pedros as I write this. Found it very clean, well kept. $22.00 a nite. Walked across the street to all the shops and had a great dinner at the steak house. The shops were all clean as well. The Mobil and Exxon gas stations were cheap at just $3.49.

  2. This WAS a cute place to stop in 2001, but every time we have stopped at Pedro’s since then, it’s not so cute anymore. We have stayed in the RV park with our motorhome and even in the motel without the RV. The motel is expensive, old-fashioned, and not the cleanest we’ve stayed in. Too bad, could be alot better!
