New Point RV Resort – New Point, VA

This is not an RV resort as is advertised, it is a fishing camp. Most all sites in this campground are permanent. They have very few beach sites for other campers and those are blocked by a sand dune. The interior roads are very narrow. Sites are too close together, and 50 amp service is only available on the beach sites. The bathhouses were not clean, and the shower was a pipe with a shower head attached. It had a single round handle, so it was hard to adjust the water temperature.

There was no check in/out process as the management company requires payment for the whole stay upfront. There was a map to direct us to a site. But not the site we had reserved. We had reserved site BV 20 back in February. We were told by the permanent residents that the sites BV 13 thru BV 20 had been washed away by the last storm back in November 2011. We would have never booked here if we had known this information. So ask lots of questions if you book here.

The area is very secluded. The nearest town is Mathews, VA. It’s a wonderful place to just relax. There are some very nice little shops to wander in and out of. The have a nice restaurant called Richardson. It is housed in an old drug store.

We camped in a Motor Home.
