Papoose Pond Resort & Campground – Waterford, ME

Our family has camped at Papoose Pond Resort every summer for the past 5 years. We stayed there this past July and have already made reservations for this fall and can’t wait to get there!

The park has 180 campsites ranging from wooded tent sites to full hookup sites for big RVs. You can camp on a beachfront site, a site with a dining shelter, even a site complete with a kitchen and bath! We have a small Class C motorhome and there are plenty of site options for us.

The campground is actually two seperate areas. One section has campsites and cottages, fairly close together but you are near most of the campground amenities including the beach, general store and activities area. The other section is across the main highway (ME Route 118). This section has larger, mostly wooded sites. Most of them have more privacy because of existing vegetation that surrounds them.

The staff was friendly and the grounds and facilities were clean and well maintained. They have a daily trash pick-up service right from your site.

If you don’t have camping equipment, they have more than 60 rental units ranging from simple camping cabins located right on the beach to deluxe cabins, bunkhouse trailers, park models and lakefront housekeeping cottages with fireplaces, screened porches and great views.

Each week during the summer Papoose Pond offers an activities program with more than 100 fully supervised events and a nightly entertainment schedule featuring both professional entertainers and Papoose Pond Activity Staff.

Facilities include a one half-mile sandy beach, an 8,000 square foot recreational hall, 2 video arcades, a separate building for arts & crafts, an 18 hole mini-golf course, tennis, basketball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, a fleet of more than 50 rental boats, even a 1916 old fashioned carousel! They have a fully stocked “Trading Post” that has everything from ice, wood and groceries to clothing, toys and souvenirs. The Carousel Cafe, is their fast food restaurant, with daily specials. They also have free wi-fi.

I highly recommend Papoose Pond Resort… especially if you have kids. They’ll love it!

  1. Our family has been going to Papoose pond for over 20 years. Our kids were toddlers when we started. Now our kids and grand kids go with us. 5 Grand kids along with other family members and friends we now take up 12 campsites. all started with one weekend visit… Love the place, Jimmy the General Manager was a kid at the park then… If you dont have a good time at what we call “the pond” then you wont have a good time anywhere…Keep on campin

  2. For us, Papoose Pond is our home away from home. We are going next week for our 8th time. Kids were 7 and 5 when we started and love it. They are now 15 and 13 and still love it. We have grown our group of friends to about 7 families who have all come up on our advise and now come with us year after year. The owners and staff are polite and usually don’t bother the kids too much (unless need be) like some other campgrounds. We have stayed places where teens are treated like crap and this is just not acceptable without cause. Curfew is enforced by them asking nicely for you to keep your voices down but not making you go to bed. This is the way it should be. The pond is spring fed and a great place to float around with friends or take out a kayak, paddle boat or canoe. Prices are not too bad at the cafe, store or rental shed. In our group of families we have tenters, RV’s, hutnik renters, trailer renters and we rent a 2 bedroom cabin. Everyone loves the many rental options they have. Planned activities are pretty good. Wish they would change up some of the nightly entertainment but still enjoy it. Love the beach party and Flamin Raymond show. See you next week!
