Townsend Great Smokies KOA – Townsend, TN

Upon first sight Townsend Great Smokies KOA is beautiful. My wife, son, and myself stayed. At first it seemed great until my in laws came to visit. We found out their was a $4.00 dollar charge per person. Which was not stated on the web site. They parked on our site so their was no additional parking. You pay $53.00 a night for partial hook up. Then upon check out you get to pay $5.00 dump fee. We ended up leaving early as did 2 more campers. We were watched on everything we did. Including my 3 year old son, at the pool the lady came out 3 times and said something to him ranging from holding on to the rope, to making sure he did not pee in the pool. I fell like I took $120.00 and burnt it.

My family has stayed there (formerly Little River Village) twice, and will go again. This is the only campground we like in the Smokies. Wonderful place very well kept and clean, due to the fact that they have rules! Some folks need rules or they get out of hand. Site are tight like all others so parking must be limited to the RV and tow vehicle or toad. Many employees are work campers and are very nice and helpful.

It is clean, but if you like it stict (like the army). Of course you need rules but if your going to have rules, they need to be posted. I think they just make up their rules as they go. If a child cannot even enjoy swimming without being constantly fussed at (FOR NOTHING!!!) they need to have fun too. Camping is all about relaxing, it\’s kind of hard to relax if you can\’t even go pee when you want. Closing the bathrooms for 3 hours is kind of silly, Yes I want my bathrooms clean but 3 hours is stupid. I know our family will never return to the KOA. There are plenty of other campgrounds around in the smokies.
