New Point RV Resort – New Point, VA

This is not an RV resort as is advertised, it is a fishing camp. Most all sites in this campground are permanent. They have very few beach sites for other campers and those are blocked by a sand dune. The interior roads are very narrow. Sites are too close together, and 50 amp service is only available on the beach sites. The bathhouses were not clean, and the shower was a pipe with a shower head attached. It had a single round handle, so it was hard to adjust the water temperature.

There was no check in/out process as the management company requires payment for the whole stay upfront. There was a map to direct us to a site. But not the site we had reserved. We had reserved site BV 20 back in February. We were told by the permanent residents that the sites BV 13 thru BV 20 had been washed away by the last storm back in November 2011. We would have never booked here if we had known this information. So ask lots of questions if you book here.

The area is very secluded. The nearest town is Mathews, VA. It’s a wonderful place to just relax. There are some very nice little shops to wander in and out of. The have a nice restaurant called Richardson. It is housed in an old drug store.

We camped in a Motor Home.

  1. We had our Bighorn 5th wheel on a permanent spot last year. They put us on a 30 amp spot and said it was a 50 amp then said they didn’t say that. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. The worse Sumner we ever had and cost us over 4000.oo dollars.

  2. A great 4th of July 2014. Brian is doing a great job.

  3. My sisters and daughter and granddaughter visited on 4-19 though 23 2014. Our purpose was to go to our nephew wedding. I set it up our stay on line though Jeremy, sales manager. Jeremy had gave us a great experience on our stay! Thanks so much! Brian is managing the campground and doing a awesome job. The site that we had reserved Brian felt it wasn’t nice enough for us. So we got a better spot. The store was close on Sunday, but my sister needed ice. So I call Brian he took his time out of his day to open the store for a bag of ice. So nice! Met some wonderful people on c5. Jen and Jerry he will run the fish store. Wonderful couple. Their are something for a new company trying to start out news to improve, like the store prices. I was curious about a t-shirt pricing the clerk had no idea or how to get the price. They will work on that. Over all we really enjoyed yourselves! Thank you for the team effort!
