Perdido Cove is a great little campground with a lot of character. It’s located directly on the Intercoastal Waterway and about one mile from the Gulf Coast beaches. The grounds are well maintained and nicely landscaped. You get a real tropical feel here.

Our check in was quick and easy and the desk clerk was very friendly and made us feel quite welcomed. The campsites are a little tight but we managed to get our 36′ Class A parked with no problems. Sites are level and with full hook ups (30/50 Amp electricity, water, sewer, and cable). Amenities include a 24 slip marina, fishing pier, a white sand picnic area, swimming pool, club house, a nicely stocked general store, playground, bike rentals, and a coin laundry. The campground also has WiFi.

If you don’t feel like roughing it they also have two luxury 3 bedroom townhouses. Nearby are several grocery stores and lots of places to eat.

The resort is located near a long overhead bridge, so there is a little road noise… but not enough to keep you awake. Overall Perdido Cove is a great place to stay for a few days. It’s about 20 miles from I-10 so it makes for a good overnight stopover too. I would recommend it

Sleepy Valley Resort is a very nice park with large, level, full hook-up sites. The staff and other guests (many are Snowbirds that the locals like to call “Winter Texans”) were extremely friendly. It was early in the season when we were here, but from what we could tell from other people who have stayed here for the winter before, there’s lots of activities to keep you entertained for the winter: pot luck dinners, social events, jam sessions, etc.

The pool, laundry, and all the facilities were neat and well-maintained. The rates were reasonable and we will definitely consider coming here again.

Hampton Beach State Park RV Campground is a small RV-only park located directly on the Atlantic Ocean on NH Route 1A in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

The campground itself is nothing special… gravel roads, no trees, no shade, no amenities, but plenty of cool breezes off the ocean. In fact, most campers leave their awnings up… it’s fairly windy most of the time here.

We arrived last July 1st for a week long holiday stay. The campground office was locked so we went directly to our reserved site and set up camp. We had an unobstructed view of the Atlantic Ocean. The weather was absolutely great… low 80’s with a nice ocean breeze all week long.

All campsites are gravel, level and comfortably large with full hook-ups. Even the largest RVs will have plenty of room here. While there is no cable, your antenna should pick up more than a dozen channels clearly from Boston, Providence, Portland and Manchester. There are no on-site amenities… no camp store, no laundry, no playground, just campsites. Adjacent to the campground is Hampton Beach State Park which does have a small store with some snacks, ice cream and bagged ice, but that’s about it. If you need anything, head down the “strip”. You’re bound to find it there.

So what’s so great about this park? Other than being directly on the ocean (if that’s not enough!), it’s just a short walk to the Hampton Beach strip… with more food, shops and entertainment than you can take even if you stayed here a week!

Grab your umbrella and towels and head for the beach, it’s only a minute from your campsite. Walk along Hampton Beach Boulevard and smell the fried bread dough, pizza and french fries. Listen to the bells and whistles of the nearby arcades. At night, grab your chairs and head down to the beach and catch the fireworks. Summers are great here! Spend some time exploring Massachusett’s north shore or head a few miles north to downeast Maine. There’s plenty to see and do nearby.

This past July was our 17th visit to Hampton Beach RV Park, and we’ll be back again this summer!

St. John’s RV Park – St. Augustine, FL

We had a great stay at St. John’s RV Park. It’s conveniently located right off I-95, exit 311 near St. Augustine. While it’s relatively close to the Interstate, there was little or no highway noise.

The park has a mix of seasonal and transient campers, and some permanent sites with older RV’s and trailers. Most of the campground has gravel sites and interior roads. There is a smaller section near the front of the campground that has paved roads and concrete pull-thrus. There is a Flee Market next door that was fun to walk through.

Prices are reasonable too. I’d stay at this RV park again if we were ever in the St. Augustine area.

We were a little hesitant about staying here. We’ve driven down I-95 for years and have always considered the South of the Border complex to be nothing more than a tourist trap. Well, we were wrong. We found it to be wonderful.

Camp Pedro is a terrific overnight stop for anyone traveling the I-95 corridor. It’s a quick and easy I-95 on/off. Sites are comfortably large, level and paved, with many pull thrus, The campground has large, mature trees that provide sites with plenty of shade. The restrooms and showers were clean and well maintained during our visit. Their general store has a good selection of camping essentials too. The campground is just a short walk from several restaurants… from fast food to casual. All campers have access to a very nice indoor pool complex at the adjacent motel. There are also several gas stations nearby.

I was pleasantly surprised with Camp Pedro, despite the tackiness of South of the Border. Very reasonable prices too… less than $25 for the night.

This is a very friendly campground! We stayed here for a week and had a wonderful experience.

The campground is family owned and operated. The owners were accommodating and made us feel very comfortable. They have RV sites with full hookups including pull-thrus for big rigs. They also have tent sites and cabins. Pets are welcome but they must be on a leash and cleaned up after! The bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. There are also laundry facilities and a small store where you’ll find ice, live bait, sodas and snacks. Wireless internet is also available for campers.

The campground is extremely affordable. We would definitely recommend Kamper’s Lodge to anyone passing thru Wilson, NC.

The Hawk’s Nest is a really great little RV Park nestled in the woods near Lava Beds National Monument.

The RV spaces are all large and level with clean gravel and full hook-ups. We had one of the pull-throughs and had plenty of space! They also have spaces for tent campers… and have a bunch of historic cabins from the Long Bell Railroad camps, if you want to visit the area but don’t have an RV/tent! Everyone was really friendly and we had a great time. We particularly enjoyed the group campfires at night.

It’s a great place to unwind, roast a s’more and share stories with fellow RVers.

Casa Del Sol RV Resort and Community – Hemet, CA

We stayed at Casa Del Sol RV Resort in our motorhome. The office staff were very friendly and helped us with plans for things to do in the area.

Our site was large, level and clean. The restrooms were tidy. The pool and spa were clean (and wonderful! The spa is 5′ deep!)… and we even played a few games of shuffleboard on the indoor courts (seriously, you have to come here just to play shuffleboard inddoors… where do you ever see that?!). Overall, the whole place seemed clean, neat and well-maintained. The ballroom looked like it had recently been redone (the kitchen was nicer than ours back home!). It looks like management is putting money into the place.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Casa Del Sol. We’ll come back… and just might spend the whole winter here!

Quechee Gorge State Park – Quechee, VT

Quechee Gorge State Park has no hook-ups, but campsites are huge and most of them shaded by large white pines. Most of the sites are so large that they could comfortably fit two more between each one. Our site was backed deep within the pines (see the photo below)

You may miss the convenience of full hook-ups… but the park is well maintained and there are several restaurants and attractions within walking distance.

The area around Quechee Gorge (“Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon”) has developed over time to include gift shops, restaurants, motels, mini-golf and “Quechee Gorge Village”, a popular antique and craft shopping area complete with an old fashioned merry-go-round and steam train rides. It sounds like your typical tourist trap, but all this is neatly located on US Route 4 just outside the campground entrance and isn’t at all gawdy. Actually, we liked the fact that we had a selection of things to do, considering the fact that our campsite had no electricity.

The campground is 611 acres perched above the spectacular 200′ deep Quechee Gorge, one of Vermont’s true natural attractions. You can enjoy the view from the US Route 4 bridge or hike down the winding trails into the gorge. Very nice, and really not too difficult a trek to the bottom. The park itself has few amenities but the rest rooms are clean and the showers are hot. There is also a dumping station on the property.

The Quechee/Woodstock area is a great place to explore and the campground is centrally located. Area attractions include the Marsh Billings National Historic Park, Billings Farm Museum, Simon Pierce Glass Blowing and Pottery Shop, the Calvin Coolidge Homestead, St. Gaudens National Historic Site and the Vermont Institute of Natural Science.

If you can get over not having full hook-ups, this is a great campground and even better area to explore.

Lakeside is a great place to relax and unwind. It’s very quiet and peaceful here!

The campground has 48 RV sites with lots of shade trees, a very nice walking and bike paths, and a playground. They also have picnic shelters, a nice bath house, public restrooms, and firewood delivered to your site. There is a marina nearby with a full service boat dock and public fishing access.

The campground is clean and well maintained and the hosts are super friendly. It’s a very family (and pet) friendly campground. There’s plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby too.

We had a great time here and recommend Lakeside to our friends.
