Hances First In Florida – Yulee, FL

Hance’s is a bit over-rated. After passing by this campground for many years on the way to Florida, we decided to stay on our last trip. Hance’s advertises in many of the campground directories and that got us excited about our first stay there too. While its a pretty good campground it’s certainly not what we expected.

The park is neat, clean and tidy and the facilities were well maintained. All the interior roads are paved and the sites are concrete pull-thrus. Many of the sites we looked at, including ours, were pretty narrow and navigating was somewhat difficult. Once our slide outs were extended, we were into our neighbors site.

They do not allow individual campfires but they did have a community camp fire site that was always available for use. The staff was not overly friendly, but politely “tolerated” our questions about the area.

Hance’s is a very convenient overnight stop. It’s located just off I-95 exit 380… the first southbound exit in Florida. Rates were reasonable. I do think I’d try some of the other campgrounds nearby before I gave this one another try.

  1. I have stayed at Hance’s First 3 or 4 times over the last 6 years. Once for 3 nights. It is a good one night stop over. The spaces are tight but it’s nice not to be on a sandy or grassy site.
Our goal if going to Florida was to clean up the trailer and truck and de-winterize the trailer. Going home I was tired and wanted a good nights rest. The campground is reasonable and easy in a out right of I-95.

  2. We appreciate your comments, as we are planning on staying at this campsite in July. Neat clean and tidy is sometimes more important to us.
