What a great family campground! We have gone there two years in row now with all kids in tow and had nothing short of a wonderful time.
Frisco Woods is located on the Pamlico Sound within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The park has mostly wooded, waterfront sites. Facilities include: 20-30-50 Amp electric service, cable TV, water, sewer hookups, dumping station, public phones, dishwashing area, coin operated laundry and fish bench. There is a Convenience and Gift Store that has everything you need including LP gas, ice, beach and camping supplies.
The staff was friendly and laid back. The pool was clean, and the sites were roomy. We will be camping there again.
We were there May, 2008, and were unlucky enough to have to endure a bad northeast storm that caused severe flooding along the entire outer banks. Most of the campsites at Frisco Woods are quite low, and the ones closest to the Sound had about 2 feet of water over them. The campground staff was extremely helpful, and had everyone move to sites on higher ground. Luckily, it was early in the season, so there was adequate room for everybody. In all, the campground facilities were great – can’t find that many places where you can have a large waterfront site with a perfect sunset go. We will most likely make this a yearly trip.
I went to Frisco Woods Campground and the site I had was tight not alot of room, I didn\’t particular care for the campground.
