Butterfield Ranch is a really nice facility. It is located near Anza-Borrego Desert State Park! The scenery, the sunsets, and the stars are spectacular!
There are programs organized for the campers – hikes, visiting musicians, BBQ’s. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Butterfield is a great place for bird-watching, horseback riding (and you can camp with your horses by the ranch corrals), hiking, biking, motorcycle riding, etc.
The Anza Borrego Desert and the Cuyamaca Mountains are close by. The campground is also near Ramona, El Centro and El Cajon.
Julian is an historic western town from the gold rush of the 1870’s. It is just 30 minutes from Butterfield Community. Don’t forget to try some of the famous Julian apple pie!
It is very quiet in the valley, and the number of cool water pool and hot tubs at the resort only add to the relaxing atmosphere. We stayed for several weeks and enjoyed our stay very much. We plan to return next year.
