Lake Stephens Campround and Marina - Beckley, West VirginiaI must tell you about Lake Stephens Campground… we fell in love with this place. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and the park has a great layout.

Lake Stephens Campground is about 9 miles from the town of Beckley. The campground is part of Lake Stephens Park, a 2300 acre County operated complex with a 300 acre mountain lake surrounded by 2000 acres of hardwood forest. It’s located in the heart of the Southern West Virginia Coal Country.

The campground is a fairly good size, with about 100 full hook-up RV sites and 30 tent sites. There is a nice campstore, located near the entrance, with a good selection of groceries and camping supplies including ice, wood, and propane. Amenities include a shower house, playground area and basketball court. The facilities are clean and well maintained. Most of the sites are large enough to accommodate your RV plus parking for two vehicles.

Lake Stephens Campground is open year-round. We’ve camped here several times and plan on going back this summer. I can’t wait!

  1. I recommend that you do not go here! You will be treated with disrespect. My husband and I were kicked out of Lake Stevens all because they didn’t want to clean the bed in a cabin we wanted to rent. Then they didn’t want to refund our money when we were told to leave. This place is suppose to be a Christian based park to stay at and it is not.

    • This is a county operated campground. Not sure how Christianity or religion came about in your review.

  2. This is a nice place, lots of trees and a beautiful lake to swim or fish. The campground offers wonderful shady spots for you camper or tent, and they made this expirence very enjoyable! I can’t wait to visit again!
    Thanks,

  3. You obviously haven’t been here in a while. In my opinion this campground is overpriced, run down. They promise movies on weekends, but it never happens. I saw trash around lake, and the was grass hardly ever cut.

  4. This is a beautiful piece of property with wonderful views of the lake. Having said that, the RV campground is small and the sites are very close together and may not be cleaned before you arrive. If you make a reservation by phone, ask about a processing fee of $5. This may not be told to you over the phone. Ask for the total price and have them send you confirmation with the total and site #. If you’re looking to be close to town and want to travel back & forth, this is not the campground for you. It takes at least 20 minutes and the road is very curvy, hilly and narrow. I have a small motorhome and did not tow a car.
