WOW. Our first impression of Winthrop KOA was just that. We stayed here for a few days last August. The sites are grassy, level and spacious. The staff was so helpful and friendly, we signed up for a third night and would stay longer if we could.

The WIFI worked at our site but I don’t think that it’s the case everywhere. You might need to roam around a bit or head to the main office where the signal is much better.

Over-the-air tv reception doesn’t come in that great, we couldn’t get much with our built-in antenna mostly because the park is in a hole and the reception was so weak, the TV kept cutting off. Oh well… we’re camping. We should be outside anyway.

Hunting, fishing, hiking, biking are all available in the area. Town is about a mile away and while its mostly tourist and antique shops, the Shafer Historical Museum is awesome and worth the trip.

The Laundramat is clean. The little store has anything you might need but if not there is a grocery store and a hardware store about a block down the road.

This one’s a keeper….

Wow! This is one exceptional campground! Our friends recommended Petoskey RV Resort to us, but we were a little wary… everyone seems to have a different impression of what a good RV park is. Anyway, last summer we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The campground was absolutely beautiful!

It’s a gated park. There are paved streets throughout the campground with level, paved sites, each with a large concrete patio. Individual sites were a little on the small size, none the less comfortable even with our large rig.

The park layout is cozy, especially at night and sites are scattered among shade trees, manicured lawns and tastefully placed landscaping. There’s a beautiful pavilion, snack bar, swimming pool, hot tub, playground and plenty of planned activities (in season). There’s WiFi, and cable tv too!

The staff was friendly and the facilities were clean and well maintained. This is a Sun RV Resorts affiliated campground. We’ve stayed at may campgrounds throughout the country and this is one of the best!

Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground – Oxford, IA

Sleepy Hollow RV Park is a nice little campground located on a small lake in Oxford, Iowa… near Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.

Many of the sites are terraced and surround the lake. We camped here in 2019 with our 38′ class A. We found that a good portion of the sites were too short for our rig but there were some pull thrus that were just fine.

The facilities were clean and the staff was friendly. On holiday weekends, the campground has a playground, pool, a camp store, even hayrack rides… and lots of kid-focused themed activities every Saturday during the summer season. There is also a basketball court, playground, volleyball court, horseshoes, and free fishing.

There are several area attractions in the area including Amana Colonies (12 miles away), the Williamsburg Outlet Mall (10 miles away), and Kalona, a working Amish community (10 miles away).

This is a great family-friendly campground and I recommend it to my friends

Whispering Pines Campground – Hope Valley, RI

I would consider Whispering Pines to be a “better than average” campground. It’s conveniently located about 3 miles west of I-95 exit 2, on RI Route 138. We stayed there for a long weekend last fall. The park is fairly large, with over 150 very large, level, spacious sites. Full hook-ups and pull-thrus are available for larger rigs.

The owners were very friendly and made us feel quite welcome. The campground is fairly quiet except that it tends to get noisy at night, especially on weekends… that was the only thing we really minded.

Whispering Pines has plenty of amenities and planned activities… a large pool, mini-golf, a spring-fed pond, shuffle board, tennis, a nice recreation hall, game room, playground, open air pavillion, horseshoes, basketball, softball, and a great planned recreational program that includes swiming lessons.

We plan on returning this summer.

Crystal River KOA Resort – Carbondale, CO

My husband and I have been taking our 3 children RV camping for over 15 years. We have been to over 50 different campgrounds during that time and have never liked any as well as the Crystal River KOA Resort in Carbondale, Colorado.

We have continued to make this our favorite spot and have continued to return every summer. It’s the best campground when it comes to clean bathrooms which is of vital importance when our family picks a place. We love the pool, the volleyball, basketball, badminton etc. and the owners have all the equipment for you to borrow. Another aspect of Crystal River KOA is how safe and family oriented it is. Our children are all teens now and I have always been comfortable with their safety.

Again, Crystal River KOA Resort is the BEST, when you combine the cleanliness along with the awesome sites right beside the river you won’t find better. The prices are reasonable and I have even seen the campground personel helping out campers that have problems with their RV’s.

Lake Harmony RV Park – Townsend, GA

Lake Harmony RV Park is another excellent overnight stop on your way down I-95. The property has easy access on/off exit 58, yet it’s nice and quiet at night considering the proximity to the Interstate.

The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The campground and it’s facilities are clean and well maintained. Most of the sites were wide enough for our triple slide Class A. Our site was typical of the others here… fairly level and well shaded. Sites have full hook-ups (30 and 50 amp), 45 channel cable tv and free wi-fi.

The owner mentioned that they were in the process of making more improvements including adding more waterfront sites. Tall Southern Pines and hardwood trees draped in Spanish moss surround a spring fed lake with fishing and a few rowboats to rent. We would definately stay here again.

Howard Stafford Park – Pontotoc, MS

Located within the city limits of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Howard Stafford Park is a city owned and operated facility. Howard Stafford Park offers beautiful lake views, recreational activities, and offers nearby access to Tanglefoot Trail.

We thought Howard Stafford Park was wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone. The price was reasonable, I have paid much more for sites without full hook-ups. The sites were big and clean. The playground had fun stuff for the kids, not just a small wooden set. There were plenty of places to ride bikes. There are stores close by. They lock the park down after 10:00 pm which made me feel safe.The caretakers went out of their way to make us feel at home.

Howard Stafford Park hosts several city sponsored events throughout the year and is utilized often by school groups and extracurricular organizations because of the amenities offered within the park.

We found that Goodland KOA is a great overnight campground. It’s convenient to I-70 yet far enough away to be quiet. We stayed here on the way out west this past fall.

The park has nice landscaping with lots of trees. The rates were reasonable (we are KOA members so we got an extra discount) The facilities were clean and well maintained. The campground employees were very friendly and helpful. Although we only stayed overnight, it made for a comfortable night.

The campground has 30/50-amp, full-hookup pull-thru RV sites, back-in RV sites, basic water and electric sites and tent sites. They also have cabin with A/C. There is a pool and free Wi-Fi throughout the park too.

The area also has a few attractions nearby along with hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Since we were just passing through, we really didn’t have the time to explore the area, but I’m sure we could have filled a few days with site-seeing trips.

KOAs are generally nice campgrounds and this one is no exception. I would recommend this KOA if you are passing thru the area.

Deer Park Campground- Buffalo, WY

Deer Park is a beautiful campground located in Buffalo, Wyoming, at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains.

We stayed here for a week and received a great site located in the back of the property. Every day we were treated to wild turkeys, rabbits, and deer roaming around our site. They have a mile trail on the property which was nice to walk the dogs. The sites were nice and wide too!

Deer Park has separate RV and Tent areas. Amenities include: big wide 50 amp Pull-thrus, Free broadband Wi-Fi, Free cable TV, a 24 hour laundry, heated pool, picnic tables at every site, camp store and a nightly ice cream social Memorial Day thru Labor Day. Pets are welcome too!

Conveniently located near downtown shopping, restaurants and a hospital. It’s also midway between Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park

I recommend this campground.

Scenic Hills RV Park – Millersburg, OH

We have visited Scenic Hills RV Park several times over the past few years, and always find the owners/employees very helpful and friendly.

Being located in Amish country, there is much to see. The sites are divided into three basic sections… main area, all gravel. Upper section (on the hill – watch your awning!), sites are gravel surrounded by lawns. Lower section is mostly pull-through with a few back-in sites, all gravel and level, surrounded by lawns.

This is a beautiful area, beautifully maintained, and free firewood. Dogs are required to “behave” which is important to us… many nightmare visits elsewhere. I don’t want to see people walking their dogs, no leash, taking a leak on someone’s water hookup.
