Rainbow Springs State Park – Dunnellon, FL

This park is FANTASTIC!!! This is the first tent camping experience I’ve had in Florida and I took a group of 18 other first time campers (ages 7-35). Everyone had a wonderful time. The Rainbow River was very refreshing and the 4 hour tube ride was VERY LONG but fun! If you choose to go, keep in mind that it may rain while your on the river.

If you choose to do something else, there is plenty to choose from. A Rainbow Spring beach area, fishing dock, heated outdoor pool, a rec room with puzzles, books, ping pong, fooz ball, and TV, a very reasonably priced gift and “oops I forgot” shop, and a GREAT staff. You can’t chop down wood there but you can buy a bundle of wood for about $8.00, or just bring your own. River Loop has shading on the camp sites, everywhere else is kind of in an open field. Be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen.

We didn’t have an RV but there were a lot of RV’s there. We spoke with one RV owner who was having a good time and joked that because of the amp availablility he could only run 1 air conditioner in his RV.

Power, water, and fire pit at all sites. Remember to put your food away at night, there are many evening visitors otherwise. LOL.

Great memories, great time, and we are already working on planning our next group outting to Rainbow Springs!!!
