Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch – Gunnison, CO

2
Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch | RVBuddy.com

Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch has large, wide sites with nice views of the lake and mountains.

The restrooms and showers are well maintained and clean. There is a nice indoor family pool as well as an outdoor adult pool area. There are nice amenities at this resort. It’s directly across Highway 50 from Blue Mesa Reservoir, Colorado’s largest body of water… a 26 mile long lake with 96 miles of shoreline. Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch has two marinas, great fishing, boating and water sports.

Blue Mesa Reservoir is part of the Curecanti National Recreation Area which features two additional reservoirs, and is located on the edge of the Black Canyon National Park. Gunnison Country offers outstanding scenery along its backcountry roads, and has some of the best places to go four-wheeling and jeeping.

We camped here for two weeks. I would recommend this park and will stay here again.

Sandy Pond Campground – Plymouth, MA

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy

We spent a weekend at Sandy Pond Campground and were thoroughly happy with our stay. I am not one to write reviews, however after such a wonderful weekend, I felt that our experience should be shared with others.

Sandy Pond has about 200 wooded and open sites, some with full hookups, some with 50-amp service, and seasonal sites are also available.

The staff at Sandy Pond were so helpful answering all the questions we had, our children had a wonderful time participating in all the activities and the safety that we felt being here was incredible. During the day and up until 11:00 p.m., the campground is filled with life and it is wonderful be part of this. At 11:00 p.m., the campers respect the quiet hour and the staff are riding in golf carts which made us feel safer. We went kayaking during the day at the pond and my kids were swimming in the pond, which is so clean.

Sandy Pond Campground has a really nice general store (open every day!), FREE cable and WiFi, a sandy beach for swimming, fishing, kayak rentals, horseshoes, a rec hall, two kiddy playgrounds, basketball court, hiking trails, an arcade, laundry facilities, and pets are welcome (on a leash).

We will be back, thanks Sandy Pond!

Searsport Shores – Searsport, ME

Searsport Shores Ocean Campground | RVBuddy.com

Searsport Shores is an awesome campground with incredible ocean side sites and views. A babbling brook runs through to the ocean and provides a wonderful camping experience.

The owners and their staff are friendly, helpful and always have time for you in spite of being very busy keeping things spotless and in top notch shape.

Check-in, check-out was flawless and all arranged months in advance on-line with great communication. We described what we were looking for and owners picked our sight in a show of blind faith. It was incredible.

Here is a letter I sent to the owners upon our arrival home from a week long stay there:

“Just wanted to thank you for a marvelous stay on site #2. We have arrived safely home in Canada this afternoon with terrific memories of a most enjoyable vacation at Searsport Shores.

The weather tried to test us, but as far as we’re concerned it was no match in the least.

We been camping for as long as we can remember, beginning in our youth, and every summer throughout our 27 years of marriage. We have camped in some wonderful spots but we always have said that as much as we enjoyed a particular location, there is too much world out there to see to return to a spot previously visited. For the first time ever, you folks broke the trend. We both confessed early on in the week that this is a place we could see ourselves coming back to. Not sure when, but we can see it happening and that is remarkable in itself.

We never had to wait to use shower or rest room facilities and they were always well kept and clean.

Every campground needs rules, but we always resent the places where they seem to feel a need to rub your nose in the “rules” every chance they get as if you are children. We never felt anything even close to that. Just warm smiles and tolerance to our many questions that we are sure you are asked over and over and over.

You made us feel welcome and that contributed to a fantastic vacation.

Next time, can you crank down the fog machine just a notch or two though? Never mind, it was worth it to listen to the loon calls, sending us off to sleep most nights, and the water coursing down the stream.

If anyone is waffling on whether or not to go for the Lobster Bake at the beach, please feel free to send them my email. Not just a fabulous meal (which it was indeed), but also an experience/event. The entire meal was just amazing. A highlight of our stay, for sure.

Take care, and thanks for the experience. We hope to see you again soon.”

Quechee Pine Valley KOA – Quechee VT

Quechee Pine Valley KOA | EVBuddy.com

We have camped at Quechee Pine Valley KOA many times over the past ten years.

The sites are average size, mostly level, graveled and nicely landscaped. The showers and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. It has a great laundry room with a folding table and since it’s next to the pool, you can swim while you wait. The general store has camping basics and groceries. The staff is friendly and helpful.

They have made improvements with the addition of a large pirate ship play structure to the playground. My six-year-old had a great time playing on it. They also have a fenced dog park as well as cabins. Now, we can invite our RV-less family and friends to join us.

It is close to Quechee Gorge and Woodstock VT and is just a beautiful place to camp.

Mountain Meadow RV Park – Hungry Horse, MT

Mountain Meadow RV Park | RVBuddy.com

Mountain Meadow RV Park has a pleasant, laid-back, park like atmosphere. It’s actually one of the nicest parks we have visited for a while. This campground feels like you’re at a state park. It’s built on a hillside, and there are lots of trees and shade for most of the sites.

The interior roads are gravel and the individual sites are comfortable and private. If you have a larger rig, you may have some trouble navigating through the campground because some of the hills are a little steep. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table.

Amenities include a stocked rainbow trout pond, very well maintained laundry room, hot showers and rest rooms, and a dump station. They have a really nice gift shop and well stocked camp store. Also horseshoes and a small playground. They also have free wi-fi. The campground is handy to attractions in the area too!

They offer discounts for AAA and Good Sam Club members, but if you’re not a member of either, ask for your 10% Internet discount.

Rates are reasonable… $55 for full hookups, $45 for water and electric. They also have camping cabins. By the way…  they no longer accommodate tents and they do not allow “loud” motorcycles.

Lookout Mountain/Chattanooga West KOA – Trenton, GA

Lookout Mountain / Chattanooga West KOA | RVBuddy.com

We stayed at Lookout Mountain/Chattanooga West KOA in Trenton, Georgia for one week in May and loved it. This is a very family oriented campground with pull through and back up sites. Most of the sites are in the shade.

The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to help. We had a problem with our propane and the owner spent a long time helping us until we found a tear in one of the hoses. Without his help, we would have had to take our rv into a service center and that would have ruined our trip.

This KOA is near the Chattanooga Aquarium (17 minutes), Lookout Mountain, and the Hang Gliding Center. We would highly recommend staying here.

Musicland Kampground – Branson, MO

1
Musicland Kampground | RVBuddy.com

Musicland Kampground is a very scenic forested park located just a short walk from the famous Branson strip and dozens of shows, restaurants, shopping and attractions. It’s really amazing how close you can be to all the action and still have a quiet space to go back to at the end of the day!

Musicland is a gated campground (you must have a card to enter) with a friendly, knowledgable staff. The campground has over 100 sites with some pull-thru, full hook-ups and free cable TV.

The entire property including the facilities are clean and well maintained. Interior road are paved and the sites are level and a comfortable size. If you have a big rig, it’s a little hard to navigate because the interior roads are a bit narrow but the staff will guide you into your site. They have got a nice little campstore with groceries, camping supplies, local gifts and crafts. Rates are reasonable too!

We’ve camped here twice and both stays were very enjoyable and we plan on going again this summer. I think Musicland is the nicest campground in the Branson area.

Crossville \ I-40 KOA | RVBuddy.com

This unique KOA is easily accessible, located just minutes off of I-40 and offers a range of accommodations, from deluxe cabins to quick & easy pull-thru(s) to back-ins by one of the ponds on the property (nightly, weekly, and monthly rates).

They are always improving the grounds and the KOA experience. This is one of the most centralized locations in Tennessee and the contiguous 48 states. You are within a day’s drive from almost everywhere. The Crossville area provides anything you might need/want while traveling and the staff offer world-class service. If you need assistance or a recommendation, do not hesitate to ask; they are always happy and willing to help and/or refer you to local businesses. I can see why it has garnered awards year after year.

Smithwoods RV Park – Felton, CA

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy.com

Our family has stayed at Smithwoods RV Park many times over the past 30 years. This last visit presented our family of 2 adults and 2 teenage children with some very interesting challenges but were resolved beyond our satisfaction.

When the kids were younger the swimming pool and playground provided hours of entertainment. Now that they are older the challenge is finding safe and exciting things for them to do. The management not only gave us directions to bowling, hiking and a great local skateboarding park they also pointed out fun community activities happening during our stay! In addition they asked our children for advice on how they could bring more fun to the teenage guests!

We love this place and are booking our next stay now… I’m sure with their focus on family we will continue to “camp” here in paradise at Smithwoods!

Wildwedge Golf and RV Park – Pequot Lakes, MN

Wildwedge RV Park - Pequot Lakes, MN | RVBuddy.com

Wildwedge Golf and RV Park is actually a Par 3 Golf course (a super well-kept little course), a Mini Golf course (Rated best mini golf in Minnesota), a Mystery Maze (over 10,000 square feet of fun), and last but not least a really nice RV park.

The RV Park has large wooded sites on the golf course plus pull-thru sites, all with full hook-ups (water, sewer, 20/30/50 amp service, cable tv ($), free wifi, picnic tables and fire rings. They are located in the Central Minnesota Lakes Area.

All sites are large (at least 50′ x 100′) and are available for nightly, weekly or seasonal rentals. They also have private shower facilities, area with full kitchen for group rentals, basement storm shelter. Except for the pull-thru sites, all are located overlooking the golf course (sites on the golf course are not pull-thru sites but will accommodate large rigs) and all have great views of the woods and golf course and lots of room.

Our site was very large and private and woodsy.

They also have 3 rooms in their lodge for rent overlooking the golf course.

Lot’s of things to see and do in the area as well…shopping, golf courses, hiking/biking trails, amusement parks, waterslides and fun recreational rentals.

We camped here last year and loved it. We will be back for sure!
