Lake Pines RV and Campground – Midland, GA

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy.com

Over 13 years of full timing and never have we experienced such blatant false advertising like we did at this park. The pictures they feature must be years or even decades old!

Let’s start with what the owners advertise.

1 – BIG RIG FRIENDLY. Not even a little bit! First you better not miss the entrance. If you happen to pass the turn into the park be prepared to have to unhook your tow vehicle and back up. There is no way to turn around. Once you get turned onto the very narrow lane leading into the park hold on to your seat you are in for a bumpy ride. Between the speed bumps that are not marked and blend into the road and countless pot holes throughout the entire park your rig will be rocking and rolling. Once you finally make it to your spot watch out for the 4 ft posts that are on the corner of every patio. Not only do these posts make it hard to pull in you need to make sure your slides will clear them as well. Another wonderful feature of these high priced *premium* sites is that your neighbors electric, water, and yes, sewer hookups are ON YOUR patio!! I also hope you don’t mind a dirty coach. We experienced both the dry dust that is constantly flying whenever anyone drives by and also the massive mud holes that splash everywhere when it rains. You have two options for sites. Full sun and a somewhat level *ish* site or shade and not even close to level sites. The shaded sites have many trees that are constantly dropping pine cones, acorns and dead branches. There was a travel trailer with an entire tree across the roof that we were told had fallen in the last storm. The *premium* sites are so close together that your neighbors slides hang over your patio. The roads throughout the park are in such bad shape there is no way anyone with limited mobility or a disability can safely navigate the rocks and potholes. There are no walking paths or trails within the park to go from one area to another so you must walk on the roads.

2 – FREE WiFi, yes technically they do have WiFi but they fail to mention that you must sit on the porch at the front of the office to pick up signal. Also an employee mentioned that we are only allowed to briefly check our email while connected to their WiFi. While on the front porch we also noticed many, many packages. All of the campers packages were just left sitting out in the elements and free for anyone to take. I would take caution if getting any mail delivered while staying here as we witnessed several people just walking up and taking boxes with no one verifying that they were the actual intended recipient.

3 – LAUNDRY FACILITIES . Very, very dated and in need of a complete overhaul as in tear down and rebuild. Access to building is a little treacherous for us older folks and there are steps up to the 3 washers and 3 dryers. All six machines are well beyond needing replaced. There is no change machine and good luck catching someone actually in the office to get quarters.

4 – FISHING. There is a small pond at the entrance of the park. It’s only a few feet deep, full of turtles and very, very small crappie. It’s catch and release so again technically there is fishing but should be listed as children’s practice fishing. It’s defiantly not the lazy afternoon siting and fishing we were hoping for.

5 – POOL. That is exactly it. There is a pool with a concrete deck surrounded by a chain link fence. Everything about the pool and pool area is very old and in need of serious TLC. There is no shade, the only seating is one dilapidated bench and a table with no chairs. There is no public restroom so if you need to use the bathroom hopefully you are not staying on the other side of the park. Also the only dumpster in the entire park is located next to the pool. It was overflowing with trash and trash all around it on the ground the entire time we were there. The smell of hot trash wafting through the park is not anything I wish to experience again.

6 – CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND. To be honest I’m not sure how this playground can even be allowed. It’s in disrepair and looks to be a major safety hazard. I know if I had small children they would not be allowed anywhere near the entire play area.

7 – PET FRIENDLY. We were told that our dog was not allowed to use the bathroom on the grass at our site because it would kill the grass. We were also informed for *safety* reasons we were not allowed to keep our 5 lb dog on the patio with us in a portable play yard. There are many cats freely roaming the park and love to leave paw prints all over your tow vehicle.

So to sum up our stay at this very over priced campground only one word comes to mind, disappointment!!

In hindsight I wish I would of taken photos but leaving a review never crossed my mind, we are just not those type of people I guess, but upon our departure the owners asked us to please leave a positive review because they have been receiving many negative reviews lately. They also shared with us that they actively try to get negative reviews removed from different sights. The thought of that just didn’t sit well with us so we decided to tell about our experience. I hope that this review stays up long enough that others like us don’t make the mistake of looking at pretty pictures on their sight and are sorely disappointed when they arrive.

Yosemite Pines RV Resort – Groveland, CA

We were planning our trip to Yosemite National Park and a lot of people suggested that we book our stay at the Ahwahnee. But for a family of 8, it was a tad overpriced and we decided to opt for the cheaper Yosemite Pines Resort. The call was made and we booked the luxury cabin. It being off season, we got the cottage for $259 which is amazing considering that you are living in a full size cottage that can house 8 people.

We were greeted by the bellman who was very courteous and accompanied us to our cabin. The cabin was picturesquely located. It had a rustic feel to it which was complimented by the right furniture. The beds were heavenly with clean linen and the kitchen is as good as your own.

Yosemite is an hour’s drive away but the drive is well worth the wait. Stop and click some pictures. We went for hiking trips and kids loved the mountain biking trails. The ambiance was amazing. We could feel the Yosemite air while we enjoyed our barbecues in the evening.

Did I forget to mention the petting farm? If you are pet lover, then you gotta visit this place. The alpacas are so gentle and beautiful.

If you are looking for a pleasant stay for a cheap price, then this is a great choice. I would certainly recommend it to my friends and relatives.

Loon Lake Lodge and RV Resort – Reedsport, OR

My family has a travel trailer that we hitch to our truck and travel just about anywhere we want to go. We have two pre-teen boys and they just love to camp out. After doing a little research we discovered that Loon Lake Lodge had hookups for our camper and they also had tent sites and yurts. The boys wanted to pitch a tent, but we got them a yurt for themselves. It had bunkbeds which was much better for them than sleeping on the ground – in my opinion anyway. They even had a little refrigerator where they could keep their water and soft drinks cold and a microwave for evening popcorn snacks.

Our site was perfect for our needs. We are pretty much self contained, but we did need to be near the facilities. Which we were. The boys rented a paddleboat one afternoon and their father took them fishing every morning. Then one evening we had an early dinner and drive the few miles to the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area. The brochure said one of the best times to see the heards was right before sundown, do we parked and had a great vantage point. It was very educational for the boys to see wildlife as it should be – without interference from humans.

In our camper area we met some very nice people and the boys also found some children their own ages to pal around with. Everyone was friendly, including the management. There isn’t anything they could have done to make us feel more welcome. Our set up was easy and worry-free.

Salisbury Beach State Reservaton – Salisbury, MA

This is a very nice campground, with lots of sites! It’s easy to travel around here. This campground is close to a private beach inside park.

The park features a big playground for the kids. The bath houses are fairly clean. There are no activities or no pool at this campground but the beach makes up for it. The sites have no sewer hookups but they do have a dump station on the property. Some of the sites are a bit tight but not too bad. You can still easily fit camper with 2 cars. Each site has a fire pit. You do have to share the water spicket with 4 campers but the water pressure is great.

The campground is quiet, and we had no issues. The State police patrol the campground in vehicles and on horse back often. I would return. Rates are great… $70 a night. If you live in Massachusetts it’s only $22 . Can’t beat that. This is definitely a try once.

Lake City Campground – Lake City, FL

Lake City is a nice campground run by friendly people. I stayed in late April 2019 and there were not many people there.

Amenities include a large pool, rec room, a playground, two ponds… one for fishing and one for relaxing a nature trail, a pet area and a 24/7 laundry.

The campground also offers free wifi, and the showers and bath area were clean. I stayed in a small camper and used the tent area, which offered electricity and water. I also stored my trailer there afterward in their storage area and the cost was minimal.

Lake City Campground is conveniently located just a short hop from I-10, exit 303 and less than 8 miles from I-75, exit 435

I’d use them again.

Lake Letta RV Park – Avon Park, FL

We really had a nice time at Lake Letta RV Park. Everyone there was extremely friendly and nice. And the onsite park manager is a gem! Made us feel right at home from the minute we arrived.

Our site was a large, level grassy site with plenty of room between us and our neighbors. They have full hookups and 30/50 amp service. The power was good, and cable tv is available. The restrooms and showers were very clean and everything in the park looked like it was being well maintained and cared for.

Their amenities include a nice clubhouse with kitchen facilities, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, card game and activity room, laundry facilities, wide paved interior roads and nice landscaping. They also have Wi-Fi.

Lots of planned activities too! We” be back!

Riptide RV Park and Motel, Key Largo, FL

Riptide RV Resort | I-95 Exit Guide

We have been coming to Riptide RV Park for 2 years now for the summer.  It’s very enjoyable and very cozy. Everyone here is very friendly and kind including the guests that stay in the park as well.

What I also like about this park is that everyone knows everyone so its like one big happy family and everyone just gets along so well.  Our favorite part about this place is the view of the water, almost all the sites are very close to the eater, and during the sunset, you can see how beautifully the sun sets quickly into the horizon.

The beach and the water here is amazing and very relaxing. Also the sites are totally hooked up and the park even has wi-fi for thos that are working and need internet.

Overall its a very nice environment and we definitely recommend it to everyone!

The Refuge on Roanoke Island – Wanchese, NC

The Refuge on Roanoke Island | RVBuddy.com

The Refuge on Roanoke Island is mostly full-timers, with transient sites located around the edge of tidal basis, which is circled with concrete walkway, very nice views.

Park features nice pool, bath house, covered pavilion, and boardwalks along side and into the wetlands, which are very picturesque. Standard size sites, grassy, no trees (parts of other park areas do have trees). Full-timer sites are well-maintained.

There is an on-site manager here. We did not use the bath house so cannot comment on it. We stayed in September, during cloudy weather, with nice breeze off the water.

Waters Edge RV Park – Newport, NC

Waters Edge RV Park | RVBuddy.com

If you are looking for a smaller (89 sites), family-owned RV campground that wants you to feel at home, then Water’s Edge RV park is your kind of place! The owners are personally involved in the camp, having their own site.

We stayed there in our Class A motor home from September 18-23, and enjoyed every minute. The grounds are immaculate; bath house closed because of COVID-19, but if the grounds are any example, I am sure it would be immaculate, also.

Most sites are wooded with grass, with gravel streets and RV parking. Unlike a lot of RV parks who keep the premium spots for their annual/year-round campers, the transient sites are outstanding, also.

There is no pool, but the green common area is set right on the Bogue Sound, with a newly rebuilt 100-yard pier extending into the Sound, ending in deck area and chairs, perfect for quiet time and/or fishing. Or, you can just enjoy the Sound from rockers/chairs provided at the common area’s edge.

This will be our spot for any future North Carolina coastal trips, for sure!

Heartland RV Park and Cabins – Hermosa, SD

Heartland RV Park | RVBuddy.com

We stayed at Heartland RV Park & Cabins in Hermosa, South Dakota for three weeks (6-26 September 2020). This is a very nice park with great ambiance, nice appearance, well maintained vegetation, clean facilities, friendly staff, and great location.

The roads and sites are well maintained and level gravel. Each site has an illuminated post with the site number that provides lighting at night for hooking up and disconnecting. Spacing between sites is slightly wider than many RV campgrounds and parks. Water pressure is good and the water has no smell odor or objectionable taste.

Unfortunately, we do not recommend this campground and would not stay in the future. Wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing is a respect for others that minimizes the transmission of Covid-19 to campers. Not a single employee at Heartland RV Park & Cabins wore a face mask or maintained social distancing.

Although WiFi is provided free, it is a woefully inadequate system. Heartland RV Park & Cabins provides clear notice, the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) size of the network is not designed or intended for online gaming, streaming video, torrents, and video chat. Unfortunately, that notice certainly understates the usefulness of the system. We work as we travel and that work is dependent upon consistent WiFi connection for e-mails, data exchange, and general employment communications. Slow WiFi is frustrating, but usable. Systems that consistently and repeatedly drop the user off line, as is experienced with WiFi at Heartland RV Park & Cabins, is useless. This issue is not insufficient WiFi network range. Signal strength is not an issue when most campers are sleeping. i.e. the wee hours of the night. Neither is the lack of reliability of the Heartland RV Park & Cabins WiFi system due to interference with WiFi network signals. Moving around the park does not change the issue of dropping out. It appears Heartland RV Park & Cabins resets their system, dropping all users off line, whenever a preset number of users is exceeded or whenever a preset bandwidth usage is exceeded.
