Carlsbad KOA – Carlsbad, NM

Carlsbad KOA | RVBuddy.com

This is a great KOA park. It is a bit out of the way (about an hour from the caverns), and being in the middle of desert land can get quite windy, dusty and hot. The very nice landscaping is still very young so there is no shade.

It is also on the pricey side at $50+ per night. However, the camp hosts are probably the best we have ever run across. They are very accommodating and make you feel like you are a guest. None of this closing at 8:00 pm and never seeing anyone again.

They escorted us to our site, stood around and visited for a few minutes and actually had a little bottle of bleach solution that he poured on the faucet just to sanitize! I’ve never seen this before.

The sites are nice and level and our site had two dump valves to accommodate adjusting your rig so it’s positioned as your prefer. The playground is nice, the pool is great, and the restrooms are completely unbelievable.

Continuing a long tradition started by the original owners, they serve smoked meats and traditional sides that they will deliver right to your site.

Enota Mountain Retreat – Hiawasee, GA

We were delighted with the unexpected comfort and peace at Enota Retreat. The beauty of the North Georgia Mountains is captured in this sanctuary.

The campsites were exceptionally maintained. Our site (#18), had a deck overlooking a flowing stream which allowed for a flock of Cajun Crecent ducks to pass by twice a day. We hiked endless miles of trails straight from camp, including the A-Trail. The waterfalls were a spectacular end to our day hikes, and pictures simply can’t do them justice.

The acreage is expansive at Enota, and no sites are cramped together. The campfires are great in conjunction with the constant sounds of flowing water, and we found the most peaceful rest we have had in a long time. The staff took a special interest in making us welcome and comfortable.

We will be returning annually, and we truly believe that this is a must-stay for campers coming to the area. We’ve already invited all of our friends for the next trip.

Big Oaks Family Campground – Rehoboth Beach, DE

Thank goodness for great friends! They have been asking us to camp with them for years. Since our children are now teenagers with two planning their college days, we felt it was time to deliver on our promise… so last summer we went to Big Oaks!

Big Oaks Family Campground provided the perfect setting. The abundance of trees provided perfect shade, while the sparkling clean pool and well-maintained bathhouses with squeeky clean private showers added to our enjoyment. Not having camped since my husband and I were children, we opted to rent a cabin instead of using our tent. Again, we found our accommodations to be clean, neat and placed on a quiet cul-de-sac within 50 yards of the bathhouse. In addition, the campground’s proximity to both Rehoboth Beach and Boardwalk and Cape Henlopen’s Beach can’t be beat!

Big Oaks Campground has lots of activities during the summer season. Dancing, art contests, bingo, or join one of their tournaments (basketball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, or billiards).

The campground schedules their activities on Saturday evenings, and because some of their activities are held outside, can be weather dependent.

Amenities include a swimming pool, playground, game room, camp store, shuttle service, bath facilities, shuffleboard, picnic tables, fire rings, horseshoes, basketball court, laundry and free Wi-Fi at certain central locations.

Nearby are biking trails, the historic town of Lewes, Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, Deep-sea fishing, clamming and fishing, scuba diving, golf, water slides, outlet shopping, summer theater, art festivals, antique shops, restaurants, stores, laundromat, hardware, movies, churches, hospitals and doctors.

Thanks to Big Oaks Family Campground for a memorable experience we will be talking about for years to come.

Walkabout Camp and RV Park – Woodbine, GA

We stayed Walkabout Camp and RV Park on our way south to Florida this past spring. This is a nice little park with great owners. It’s not a destination park, but great for a short stay to explore the area or an overnight stopover when traveling I-95.

The campground is conveniently located at Exit 7 on I-95 between the city of Woodbine and Kingsland Georgia. 70 Full Hook Up. 30 and 50 amp sites… and all sites are pull thru!

Their amenities include a pavilion, pool, a clubhouse, laundry facilities, clean bathrooms, a dog park run, nature trails, a pickleball court and basketball court.

Their location is close to Historical St Marys, Amelia Island, Woodbine Opry, Cumberland Island, Okefenokee National Park Wildlife Refuge, Fernandina Beach, Submarine Museum, Jacksonville Zoo and more.

We will definately stop here again.

This is our second trip here. Great people and a nice little park. Again, not a destination park, but great for a short stay to look around the area or to rest on a trip.

Rest A While RV Resort – Hoodsport, WA

Rest A While RV Park | RVBuddy.com

This is a nice RV park right on Puget Sound with its own private beach. Some sites are about 10 foot from the water, others are set back in the woods nestled in the trees. Beach front sites are pull-thru, most of the forest sites are back-in.

The beach is a “food” beach as both oysters and clams are harvested there, so dogs are not allowed and playing on the beach is discouraged. If your interested in either clamming or oysters, call the parks for dates and time.

The little store in the office and a restaurant across the street are both handy. The Tides Restaurant is very popular and it’s because the food is great, sevice good but slow when full and price is right.

Park is located about 2 miles north of Hoodsport, just about the time you are sure I lied to you, you’ll see it on the east side of the road. Office on the west side of highway.

New Green Acres Camground – Walterboro, SC

If you are looking for an overnight stop right off I-95 (exit 53), New Green Acres Camground in Walterboro South Carolina is perfect. All the sites here (there are 106) are long pull throughs, “The longest and widest pull-thrus east of the Mississippi” they claim… and totally level.

The New Green Acres is the perfect campground after a long day’s travel – a complete no-brainer.  If you are late on the road, there is an after-hours check-in kiosk. They even have a fenced in pet area so your dogs can stretch their legs.  The bathhouses here are clean – nothing fancy. There is a small campstore if you need supplies.

Sites have electric hook-up (30 and 50 amp), water and sewer and cable. Other amenities include, a laundry, swimming pool, a playground, Free wifi, restrooms and showers, a dump station, club meeting facilities (enclosed with full kitchen facilities).

All the major chain restaurants are close by if you don’t want to cook. From McDonald’s, Waffle House, and Shoney’s, to Cracker Barrel and Ruby Tuesday.

Tiki Tom’s RV Park – Tiki Island, TX

Tiki Toms RV Park | RVBuddy.com

After staying in 99% marginal to poor RV parks with the exception of a big rig park in Newport, Oregon and Disney World in Orlando, Florida, I was amazed at the quality of Tiki Tom’s when we stayed here last fall.

The roads are paved, the sites are concrete, the grass is manicured and the bathrooms are squeeky clean! The washers and dryers are even free and all for a reasonable price per night considering that you are right on the Gulf of Mexico! I know he has monthly rates but the manager slipped us into a long term site knowing that we might have to interrupt our stay. We were there a week but will surely return, soon. This a class act.

The campground includes six areas of protected grassland along with several live oyster reefs, great for bird watching. Amenities include lighted fishing piers, a marina with boat slips and an observation deck, 30 and 50 amp electric circuits at all sites, sewer and water at all sites, Free Wifi (in the clubhouse only), a clubhouse facility with bathrooms/showers and washers & dryers, and a workout room.

The manager knows all about Tiki Island and all the amenities offered in the greater Galveston area. Don’t miss this park when in the greater Houston area.

Wekiwa Springs State Park – Apopka, FL

Wekiwa Springs State Park | RVBuddy.com

Wekiwa Springs State Park campground is beautiful, with large level sites and plenty of shade. The park is located at the headwaters of the Wekiva River, the beautiful vistas within this park offer a glimpse of what Central Florida looked like when Timucuan Indians fished and hunted these lands.

The campground is very wooded, and most sites have a nice private atmosphere. Canoeists and kayakers can paddle along the Wekiva River and Rock Springs Run. Thirteen miles of trails provide opportunities for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding.  There is no pool, but there is a nice spring fed swimming hole that’s absolutely perfect on a hot summer day.

Wekiwa Springs State Park is not too far from area restaurants and shopping too and just one hour from most central Florida attractions. We’re planning on spending some time here this summer! Can’t wait!

Voyager RV Resort – Tucson, AZ

We made reservations to stay at Voyager RV Resort last summer because of a friends recommendation and they had a great deal… and we weren’t disappointed!

Voyager RV Resort is one of the nicest campgrounds that we’ve stayed in in the past several years. This is a huge park (over 1500 sites!) with lots of amenities. The park is well managed and the staff is friendly. Most of the campers are snowbirds and many of the sites are very well maintained and appear to be occupied by permanent RVs. This is considered to be a “destination resort”. The park is gated and has excellent security.

One of the nice amenities here is a full service restaurant right on the premises. Our campsite was large and roomy and easy to get in and out of. Amenities are too numerous to mention… a medical office, arts & crafts, live entertainment, indoor and outdoor pools/spas, shuffleboard, horseshoes, game rooms, beauty and barber shop, lounge, market… Oh, I almost forgot… WiFi wireless internet is available throughout the park!

It’s a great place for a full-timer to call home and a great place to spend the winter. I recommend this park if you’re in the area.

Crater Lake RV Park – Prospect, OR

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy.com

Last fall we spent another wonderful week at Crater Lake RV Park. We have been coming here for eight years and have always enjoyed our stay.

The park has lots of trees so the sites are shaded. The staff is friendly, the park is very clean and most of all, quiet. A good night’s sleep is important when you are out all day exploring this magnificent area.

The park is very close to the Rogue River and you can walk to a marvelous hiking trail that follows the river for miles. The scenery is spectacular and there is lots of it, most within an easy drive.

The owners and staff have always been most welcoming and helpful to us. Staying here has always been a pleasure and we will continue to come every year.
