Saltwater Farm Campground – Cushing, ME

RVBuddy.com | Campground and RV Park Reviews

My wife and I have been camping for 20 years, starting with tent to pop-up to hybrid and finally graduating to large travel trailer, and most of the joys we have experienced have been in the friendly people we have encountered. However, the Saltwater Farms Campground was, without a doubt, the most unwelcoming and unfriendly campground that we have ever visited. The staff went far beyond being unfriendly — they were downright rude. In addition, the seasonal campers there acted as though we were intruders. We spent more money to stay at this campground than we have ever spent anywhere, yet we had the most unpleasant experience we’ve ever had at any campground anywhere.

This all goes beyond the fact that the “amenities” (and I do use this term loosely) were minimal to non-existent. For example, the campground advertises that they have WIFI, however, you’ll need some luck on your side to get it to work since it didn’t work about 90% of the time. Also, we were told that we would probably be able to get 2 over-the-air TV stations, however, again, no such luck. So, notwithstanding having no internet and no television (yet spending $378 to stay here for a week), this still would have been acceptable in a campground that made us feel even a little bit welcome, however, this campground did not.

This is the first campground review we have given, however, we felt compelled to give it this time as this campground was such a major disappointment to say the least, and we would not recommend it to anyone who enjoys a friendly atmosphere in a campground.

Country Village RV Park – Ishpeming, MI

This campground is not a family oriented park. Mostly long-term campers.

They do not supply you with a set of rules when you make reservations. Our friends that were camping at the same time had a small campfire and it was smoking after dark, but not flaming. One of their “guards” woke the people up and made him go out and douse the smoke. They had fire rings.

I was there when they first opened, about 12 years ago and it was wonderful. In my opinion they were very rude. The only pleasant person was the gentleman that kept the sites mowed.

My family, was me (76), my son (48) and my granddaughter (6). I was not relaxed at all. I felt like I was walking on egg shells. We were there 4 nights and did not have a campfire. I didn’t set outside at all.

I will not return and would not recommend it to families with children.

Bay View Campgrounds – Bourne, MA

The park was clean and well maintained. The sites were level and fairly easy to get in and out of. We have stayed here before and the campground is very large (over 400 sites) many seasonal. I agree that the seasonal people are a great asset to the park. We met a lovely seasonal couple by the upper pool who had beautiful impatiens all along their site, they had been seasonal over 25 years and were a great resource and very friendly and helpful.

Bay View Campground has 3 pools, a camp store, a “hot dog” stand, an arcade, and entertainment at a pavilion on the weekends.

The bands that played during our stay were very loud… request a site away from the upper pool or pavilion if you want to get some sleep before 10:00 pm or have small kids.

Otherwise, we had a great time!

Hitchin Post Corral and Campground RV Park – Cottondale, FL

Hitchin Post is the best, new, small, rustic, peaceful, well kept 24 site state of the art full hook-up, pull through, big rig friendly campground so far and I’ve been on the road now for 15 years.

To make it even better the owner’s are the best hard working couple you could ever want in this business. They greeted us with an umbrella so that we didn’t have to get out in the rain at 10 pm to check in. We didn’t even have a reservation on the 4th of July weekend and they even honored our PA discount on top of that!

The roads are clearly big enough to navigate any size rig with or without a tow and there are no obstacles to try to miss, no low hanging limbs.

They have a separate entrance and exit,  long, level site’s some very spacious, 2 fenced in dog parks, corrals and a 50ft round pen for a nice stay over when traveling with horses. They also have vollyball, horseshoes and more games as well as fishing and the best free Wi-Fi yet. We picked blackberries and the owners brought us a dozen of their delicious free range eggs, yummy!

Another great thing is they don’t have residents which is a major plus in my opinion. Very peaceful indeed.  No mosquitos… just a few knats. The campground is very clean and well kept.

This will be one of my favorite parks to stay at when I’m near by. Thank you guys so much for your hard work and wonderful hospitality and congratulations on building such a great place to stay. I am looking forward to watching your campground grow and prosper.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park – Emporia, VA

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park is located on US Route 301,  between exits 13 & 17 on I-95. This campground is a nice place with a large pool, friendly staff, and shady level gravel covered drive thru sites.

The campground has great wi-fi. There is an additional charge of $2.00 for cable if desired. They have a basic store too. Yogi bear comes out at 6:30 pm to give wagon rides around the park. The park is only about 5-10 minutes off I-95.

The travel books and signs say to use I-95 exit 17 but exit 13 is easier and has fewer turns.

If there was an option to rate this place a zero I would have done it.

My husband and I booked an RV spot the weekend of 7/22/16 – 7/24/16 and paid twice as much, $60 a night, for a private beach and cabana as opposed to others who were located behind us.

The first day we were there was very nice other than the lot size being incredibly small. However, on Saturday it all changed – our “private” beach area had a boat, a jet ski and a tube that didn’t belong to us, along with about 15 beach chairs just to the right of our cabana. My husband spoke with one of the women in the group and she told him that they paid the lady money to use that section of beach. We called the office and the woman said she would take care of it. We went out for dinner and when we came back the group from behind us was still there. We called again and were told that they were “nice” people and they were told they could stay. We spent the rest of the day and night in our RV and packed up and left early Sunday morning.

We also learned from talking with another “guest” that most people with the private areas had rented them for 4-6 months so any premium lots are already taken so don’t fool yourself into thinking you’ll get a decent spot.

There was absolutely no security, a heavy party atmosphere, and considering it’s an Arizona resort most guests were from California. We also learned that the spot we had been rented was a repaired sink hole, the breakers snapped at least 3 times, even though we were in a 50 amp plug and the curfew wasn’t even remotely enforced, there were fireworks being set off next to us until after midnight.

So, my advice – rent the $30 spots in the back and go ahead and squat on the River because nobody will challenge you anyway. We won’t be going back, not because of the view but because of the inability of the staff to manage to the written policies.

Tower Campground – Sioux Falls, SD

Tower Campground had a number of shade trees and was clean and neat. It is a decent place to stay overall.

They have free cable, wi-fi, some pull-thru sites, restrooms, showers and a laundry on site. Minutes from shopping and restaurants.

Thanks to the management for saving us a space with an after-hours check-in!

Tex’s Travel Camp – Green River, WY

Tex’s Travel Camp is not my favorite campground by a long stretch.

It’s very windy, which can’t be helped, but the dirt between rv parking sites blows and gets everything dirty. There are no street lights and a questionable clientele who were partying noisily well past the “quiet” hours. There is road noise and the trains nearby run all night. Pet waste was everywhere.

I would park in a rest area rather than go back there. Comments from neighbors were that the place is “scary”. I can’t think of anything good to say about this place.

My stay at Briery Creek Lake Getaway was very peaceful and clean as a whistle.

The sites are level and all pull thru. There was plenty of green grass to walk in also. The fishing was great also. The owner was very professional and was very helpful.

I had an Awsome time!

Pony Express RV Resort – North Salt Lake City, UT

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy

What beautiful mountain Views! While visiting in North Salt Lake city we stayed at the Pony Express RV Resort. While the mountains were beautiful the camp ground was far that.

The poor attitude of the management sent us down the road to the next camp ground “toot sweet”. I felt like they didn’t like kids, pets, or full-time campers. They are called an “RV Resort” but they have 140 concrete pads on the corner of 2 major express ways… not the kind of camping a full-timer would like anyway.

The campground had no shade trees and limited grass areas. They seem to be working out some “opening” growing pains and have several issues with electricity. Maybe if they work through there growing pains they would be acceptable one day but right now I would rather go to one of the other SLC area campgrounds…

Just my “two cents”. But in any case… gotta love those mountains! “Camping is God’s way of showing us his Masterpieces”
