Owned and Operated by Mobile County, this campground has nice level pull thru lots and is located on Dead Lake in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, with easy access off of I-65, Exit #22.

Facilities and features include RV and tent camping, cabin rentals, playground, bath house, laundry, lake fishing, river fishing, launch ramp, covered boat slip rentals, houseboat dockage, bait and tackle, limited groceries and canoe rentals. The Marina is located at the end of Dead Lake Road.

The campground contains 60 full hook-up RV sites and 4 cabins. A swimming pool, playground, and a lake stocked with bluegill and bass is available for campers only use. There is also a laundry and bathhouse centrally located within the campground. Free use of the boat launch is included for registered campers.

Rates are very reasonable… $20 for RVs. Cabins are only $33. Boat slips for small boats are available for rent at the lowest prices you will find anywhere, $20 in most cases, while accommodations for any size houseboat or cruiser may be arranged to dock overnight or stay on a monthly basis. Security guards are on duty 24 hours to watch over the boat docks and the campground area.

Acres of Wildlife is a great stop when camping with kids. We spent a week camping with four of our grandsons.

There is plenty to do for kids. Six playgrounds, miniature golf, and nightly fire engine ride, and numerous programs like tie dye, etc. They have an arcade room, but I would avoid it. They have a beautiful swimming lake with lots of sand beach, rental paddle boats, and diving platforms. No pool.

They have 200 sites spread over 60 acres. Most sites are wooded, large sites with plenty of separation. Our 31′ class A was sited into Hummingbird Meadow, which is a big field with about 16 large sites and not a tree to be found. We had full hook-up and no problems.

Showers and restrooms are clean and have plenty of hot water. The most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Try not to deal with the elderly lady in the camp store. 😉 They do have wifi but it SUX! I could see the antenna in the meadow and it was still bad.

If you are looking for a family friendly park, I would rate this a four of five. For campers with no kids, I’d give it a two. I doubt that we will be back. Sebago Lake State Park was a much better site for quiet, peaceful camping by us old folks. Did I mention that the wifi was BAD!

Brattleboro North KOA – Brattleboro, VT

We were pleasantly surprised when we pulled into this campground. KOAs in general are well maintained, but this one was a definitely cut above.

The Brattleboro North KOA is “tucked among the hills of the Connecticut River Valley in southeastern Vermont”, right on US Route 5, about 4 miles from I-91, exit 3, in East Dummerston, Vermont… just north of Brattleboro.

We had made our reservations online the night before so check-in was quick and easy. The staff was friendly and helpful and made us feel welcomed. This is a quiet, laid back campground… just what we were looking for.The property is beautiful… manicured lawns under mature shade trees. The interior roads are gravel and sufficiently wide to get around even with a larger rig. Sites are gravel and relatively level. They are comfortably large although if you have an RV say 38′ or more you may use the entire legnth. It’s an older campground built in the days when RVs were smaller. Each site as a picnic table and a pedestal barbecue grill. There are a limited number of full hook-up sites. There is also a tenting area near the rear of the property.

The facilities are clean and well maintained. The “Walker Farm” is located right next door where you can buy fresh corn and vegetables. The campground has a swimming pool (open Mid May thru – Mid September), game room, and playground complete with pirate ship and sandbox.

The campground store is small but offers the essentials including several Vermont made products. There are also five motel-type cottages that each have private baths, showers and clean linens.

Wifi is free here. Our site was located near the center of the property and our signal was nice and strong. Some sites also have cable with an impressive list of channels. Their website mentioned an extra charge, but we had it without any extra fees.

This is a great little campground. The younger kids may find it a tad boring because there are no formal, planned activities here… but their motto is “clean, quiet and comfortable.” and they are just that.

We’ll be back!

Lakewood Camping Resort – Myrtle Beach, SC

Lakewood is another huge campground on the Atlantic Ocean. The staff keeps the grounds nice and clean. They are very helpful also.

We enjoy staying there, but there are a few problems. If you stay around 4th of July the fireworks noise lasts for another at least 4-5 days. Fireworks should be on the 4th not on any other day. At night there is a problem with golf carts! The kids there do not respesct the rules of the campground when it comes to driving. I look around and see underage children driving and fast! No respect for others! The campground security does not enforce the golf cart good enough. I understand that it is a huge campground but security is not good enough.

The sites have plenty of room with full hook ups. By the way, make sure you rent a golf cart to get around there because the property is huge!

My wife called and reserved a spot at The Redwoods RV Resort the day before we arrived for a two-night stay. She was given a price of $45. She asked if Verizon service was good. She was told excellent and they also had internet.

We arrived June 2019 at 3:15pm. No one was in the office. A sign on the office said they were at lunch and directed us to take an envelope on the side of the building. There were several envelopes. None with our name on it. As directed, we grabbed one of the envelopes and set up on the site.

Later that afternoon my wife went to the office to complete the paperwork and they said we parked in the wrong spot and asked us to move. When we refused, they proceeded to charge us $55 for each day. $10 more than promised. Since we were already set up my wife said OK and paid the bill. So, they basically did a bait and switch.

Verizon service worked but only as extended and 1X. This gave no data access at all. Verizon service at 1x will only work for voice.

They promised Internet service. Once I connected to the service, the connection would drop every 30 seconds. Totally useless.

The next morning, I tried to go to the office to notify them that I would be leaving, and I wanted a refund. Again, there was nobody in the office. So, I called the number listed on the door and talk to a lady who said she would refund the second night. Then at the end of the conversation she said that she would need to verify with her manager. So, I left without getting a refund. The manager called the next day and told me that would be unlikely would get a refund as the park has a non-refund policy.

They misrepresented themselves, internet, Verizon coverage and amount they charged. Their only response is “NO REFUND POLICY”.

The manager called me back later in the day and said that they will not refund.

Canaan Meadows RV Park – Big Spring, TX

Having worked in the oilfield for the last 10 years in the Permian I have seen quite a few RV Parks. Canaan Meadows RV park is by far one of the quietest campgrounds in the area and has some of the best views.

Canaan Meadows is extremely close to downtown Big Spring, but you feel like you’re out at the ranch. Good views and shade, but limited in it’s amenities offered.

If you value privacy and don’t need all the amenities this would be a good fit for you.

Pleasant Acres Campground – Sussex, NJ

We loved camping at Pleasant Acres Campground last year. It’s close to home for my family to be able to do multiple trips.

We especially enjoyed being able to leave our trailer on the site for the week and return the following weekend and having everything set up and ready to go. You can no longer do that. We also enjoyed the breakfast (pancakes or French toast) on Saturday mornings. It was a great way to start the day and meet other campers. They no longer do that either. The store closes to early for a weekend and they no longer have the yummy variety of soft serve ice cream (my children think this is the worse thing they did).

Hopefully they will bring some of these things back.

60 North RV Park – Bay City, TX

I just took my 5 days holiday to enjoy with my family at other location away from our home. So I thought to do some research and come with at 2-3 location so that my kid can choose.

The kids choose to go to Bay City, Texas from Midfield. Then I was looking for RV Parks in Bay City For my rented RV, then I can to know about 60 North RV Park.

After reaching there I see their ground was green and was also providing free cable but we didn’t took that as our goal was to spend time with family. There were more feature like laundry, clean washrooms etc. we played sports and other physical games kids enjoyed very much there.

If you are also planning for RV Tours Best rv park near Bay City is 60 North RV Park. I strongly recommend for your family time

Olive Branch Campground – Oregonia, OH

I was directed to Olive Branch Campground by the Good Sam site. When we booked they did not take my Good Sam membership number. Upon arrival the office did not offer any discounts to Good Sam members.

The 30 AMP breaker was not working upon arrival. I was told it would be fixed but that never happened. The swimming pool had a limit of 15 people, this was not in any of their online info. The hiking trail was a joke. When to the office for a trail map and was told there was none because it only went a short distance. (less than a 1/4 mile).

I will give this CG a 2 only because there was shade at the campsite. Will not go back.

Oak Lake Campground – Kennick, MN

Oak Lake Campground is in Kerrick, Minnesota. This is not a great campground but it did have some redeeming qualities.

This campground proved to be an excellent proving ground for my new Superwinch Talon 18.0. This winch made quick work of dragging my 33-foot travel trailer out of the mud pit… campsite. It is a cozy little campground. I was able to extended my roasting fork, tipped with a Johnsonville brat, out the window of our RV to roast my brat to golden perfection over the neighbor’s campfire.

It also boasts free entertainment. Drunks race around the too narrow roads of the campground trying to avoid old ladies and occasionally meeting a moving tree head-on. Think of Death Race 2000 with golf carts.
