Three Springs Campground – Corinth, KY

We stayed at Three Springs Campground for three nights and we were very impressed with the way the staff and owner went out of their way to assist us and let us know things to do in the area.

Unfortunately we had some electrical issues with our camper and had to make arrangements for someone to work on it so we did not get to do some of the things they told us about. We did enjoy the quiet evenings and a campfire.

We would definitely stay again if we are traveling through. It’s a beautiful campground.

Suncoast RV Resort – Port Richey, FL

Suncoast is an old and dated KOA park that has been sold numerous times. The sites are too small and management insist on packing in bigger and bigger units.

No-see-ums are bad as are the fleas. Cats run wild and dog owners are not encouraged to pick up dog waste. When it rains it floods, the too narrow roads are higher than the campsites and drainage is poor. Sites are dirt and patio’s insufficient. Because it’s adjacent to a state wilderness area you’ll have racoon’s, possum’s, armidillo’s and snakes of course.

There is too few washers and dryers for the number of sites and there are always a couple of them down not to mention the propane runs out. If you don’t mind being inconvenienced and are looking for a cheap place to stay then this is it for you, at least the cablevision and internet work.

KQ Ranch and RV Park – Julian, CA

We arrived KQ Ranch and RV Park on Wednesday, August 16, and planned to stay until Monday, August 21. The gate keeper assigned our space and also gave us an appointment to attend their membership presentation for 9:30 a.m. the following morning. Both the space assignment and appointment date and time were, according to her, unchangeable. Not good for us as we had planned early morning hikes in different locations for each morning we planned to be there.

We were told to drive into the park and wait at a particular spot for an escort. Fifteen minutes later an older man in a golf cart drove up and, without stopping, waved us to follow him which we did. A few moments later he signaled the location of our place to park and off he went in his golf cart. Nary a word spoken or explanation given. After backing into the space and setting up our coach and outside equipment we noted a couple of things about the space: there was no BBQ and the picnic table was ancient – full of splinters and not level. Little or no shade and definitely little time or effort spent in preparing the site. 2 star quality.

We went for a walk, checked out the clubhouse and pool then walked across the street to the sales office. Once inside I asked the lady at the front desk, “Are all of your presentations scheduled at 9:30 in the morning?” The lady said, in a very condescending voice, “Why? Is your appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9:30?” I replied, “Yes, it is and we would like to make it for a time later in the day if possible as we like to get up early and go on short hikes before it gets hot.” She responded, “Well, your appointment cannot be changed. You have to attend tomorrow morning at 9:30.” I looked at her and asked, “Do you really want potential customers coming to the presentation holding two strikes already against you?” “No sir,” she stated in a very condescending manner, “It’s not two strikes against us but two strikes against you.” To which I said, “Well that attitude makes it three strikes and I think we will find some place else to enjoy.” A man, presumably one of the sales agents, stepped up to the plate and said, “We will call the front gate and informed them of your intention to leave within the hour.” We walked back to our coach, packed and were out of their within 30 minutes. We found a lovely, well-run RV park just down the road. Enjoyed every moment there. Interesting to note that we heard multiple stories of others who had suffered the same attitude from the workers (from the gate keeper on) at KQ.

Last note: they advertise this park as a 5 star facility. It is not. The roads are not maintained neither are the sidewalks. The spaces are cheap looking and unattractive. The BBQs, at the spaces that had them, were old, bent and neglected.

My sister, one of my neighbors and a couple of clients were anxious to hear what we thought about the park as they all were thinking of going. Not any more.

Putter’s Paradise RV Park – Snowflake, AZ

Putter’s Paradise RV Park has serious problems.

First of all it was $38.50 for the night, which is OK. Our spot was very tight and difficult to back in to. Not level. So tight we could not even open our Slide-out. The water connection was buried under half a foot of gravel and dirt, the friendly people next door helped me find the water hose bibe and dig it out. The side to side was not level.

Anyway, their Wi-Fi was barely adequate, no streaming. Oh well, thank God we leave first thing in the morning. Last nights RV Park was 100% better and cost only $18 per night!!

Newport News Park Campground – Newport News, VA

We really like Newport News Park Campground; it’s very wooded, the sites are very spacious, and laid out in a loop, so the interior ones back up to a large empty space.

The showers are huge, but blackish in corners (toilet stalls, too). I don’t know if this is mildew or something else. There were no towels or dryers in the bathroom. They have newer washers and dryers (4 sets) at a nice price.

We’ve been here almost 3 weeks in October and it’s been very quiet. During the week, we can hardly even see other trailers. The park rangers drive thru several times a day. The lake (reservoir) is lovely.

Would LOVE to come here again. It’s only about 12 miles to Williamsburg.

We stayed at Golden Eagle RV park for most of the summer and enjoyed it greatly.

They provide activities weekly of things to do as well as the outdoor activities that are available in the area. They provide a “Chuckwagon”,( Friday through Tuesday), where Bridgette cooks some of the best breakfasts like biscuits and gravy for a modest cost.

The bathrooms are very clean and there is a store on the premise where you can buy Indian jewelry, rocks, RV Supplies and groceries on a limited basis.

The Staff here is so pleasant and accommodating to their guests. We definitely will return.

Summersville Lake Retreat – Mt. Nebo, WV

There is a reason West Virginia is called Almost Heaven, because it is. Summersville Lake Retreat is one spot of this heaven.

For anyone who loves to camp, whether it be tent, RV, or cabins, my husband and I highly recommend Summersville Lake Retreat. The campground is very well maintained and the views are spectacular. The owners and the staff are so friendly and very helpful either answering questions about the campground, questions about your site, and giving you information about this beautiful part of West Virginia. They are very knowledgeable of this area of the state. They offer great recommendations of things to do, places to see and the best restaurants. The hosts guiding you to your sight are exceptional. They are friendly and very helpful.

The bath house is spotless. The showers are wonderful. Plenty of hot water and great water pressure.

The play area for kids will take care keeping the young ones busy.

Then there is the lighthouse. The Summersville Lake Lighthouse was erected overlooking Summersville Lake in Mount Nebo, West Virginia on October 17, 2012. Standing 104 feet tall with a top elevation of 2,164 feet above sea level, the 77,000 lb. structure was a cylindrical tower constructed entirely of 1/2 inch thick steel. With a base diameter of 12 feet receding to 8 feet at the top, visitors can climb 122 steps to reach a 360 degree gallery deck offering unparalled views of Summersville Lake and the Gauley River National Recreation Area.

For those of you that have not experienced it, give it a try. I guarantee you will love it. We stayed July 2017.

Sounds of the Sea RV Park – Trinidad, CA

My word to the wise… don’t camp here! I would stay in a Walmart parking lot before I would stay here.

False advertisement.. you can not hear the sea from this campground, period. It’s a long walk down a busy road and across road and through a park to reach the sea. In my opinion the owner is beyond rude and should not be in this business. The campsites are extremely narrow. Our neighbors poop hose was right outside our door. We can’t even open our awnings. We barely can open our slide outs. There is no grass. This guy put a gravel parking lot in his back yard and slams RVs in like sardines. Yes, I was a sardine fish in a place I couldn’t see or hear the sea.

Pass on this place. The worst RV park (if you want to call it that) that we have ever experienced.

Medina / Wildwood Lake KOA – Medina, NY

In my opinion, Medina / Wildwood Lake KOA is awful.

We arrived after 6 hours of driving. Went to our site and there was a very angry yellow jackets nest. We asked for another site and were told no and we can get our money back! We had no where to stay! I explained to the owner ROB that I was allergic and staying at this site was not an option… he did not care!

I asked him to come with me to see the nest – he blurts out he will not go near the site because he is allergic! Wait, you want me to go but you can’t! He said he has been treating it! Which is true, dead yellow jackets all around & the smell of RAID was disgusting!

It was our 25th wedding anniversary so ROB wasn’t going to ruin it totally. We went to a hotel… I would not recommend this KOA, mainly because of how we were treated but also there is a lot of maintenance that needs to be done! Looking kind of worn out!

Countryside RV Park – Griswold, CT

Countryside RV Park | RVBuddy.com

We have been camping for decades and Countryside RV Park rates among the best.

The sites at this park are well planned, very spacious with more than ample space between campers. The owners personify customer service. They are pet friendly and the seasonal campers are pleasant and friendly. This is not a party campground but a well run family friendly and quiet campground.

A definite visit for next year! Five stars in our book.
