Cape Camping and RV Park – Cape Girardeau, MO

We stayed overnight, 4-19-17 at Cape camping and RV Park in a 32′ class C RV. It was $34.01 with our Good Sam discount.

This is a nice park, with all pull-thru open sites, and well-kept grounds. The bathhouses are clean and are tornado shelters. The campground has CATV, Wifi, mini golf, a pool (seasonal), a small playground, horseshoe pits, a pond (catch and release), and a nice bike/walking path around the lake and into town.

There is a restaurant within walking distance, and services nearby. The car wash next door made it a bit noisy in the daytime. (we were near it – “A” row)

TripleBrook Family Camping Resort – Blairstown, NJ

We camped at TripleBrook Family Camping Resort this past weekend. It’s now under new management and it shows. Among the changes are chairs around the 2 beautifully kept pools, flower baskets surrounding for your viewing pleasure, the adult pool with a more “resort like appearance”. New landscaping is in progress, and flowers and baskets abound. There are chairs by the office to sit, relax and chat as you greet others and you can access the wi-fi as well. The owners assured us there will be wi-fi access by July.

The sites are roomy, and the property has wonderful rolling hills and mature vegetation to ensure everyone’s enjoyment.  The bathrooms are very clean too. The wooded area is wonderful to walk through or stay if you like, we prefer the open grassy areas. The park is secure and gated and I enjoyed the peace of mind to know they monitor the clients that enter the park.

For the birdlover’s there are many to look at and of course there is the farm animals for all the little ones to enjoy as well. There is a friendly atmosphere and the owners are eager to guarantee their customer’s satisfaction.

Will definetly return this summer. We camped in our 33 ft. Travel Trailer.

High Sierra RV & Mobile Park – Oakhurst, CA

We wanted an RV park that was close to Yosemite National Park where we could have full hookups and be close to “civilization”, while still having a “camping experience” (we hate RV parks that are giant asphalt lots) with grass, picnic tables, and fire rings. High Sierra fit the bill perfectly.

The Fresno River runs right through the park, so you can reserve a “riverside” site where you can nose into the site and have a view out your windshield of the river. Our site was a really nice back-in on the hill overlooking the river… right near the office (which made getting an early cup of coffee, or some “treats” after dinner, really easy).

It was also easy to do day trips into Yosemite National Park… High Sierra is about 15 miles from the South Entrance. And oakhurst is a good size town, with lots of services, restaurants, shops, and other amenities to choose from, without being too big.

The park manager, Cathy, was a lot of fun. She’s very nice, very friendly, and really knowledgeable about the area and the things to do. Actually, all of the staff were the same. Everyone we talked to really seemed to enjoy their job…  a real rarity these days (guess Cathy’s as much fun to work for as she is to talk to!).

We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking to experience Yosemite National Park without having to jump through hoops to make a reservation.

Sierra Trails RV Park – Mojave, CA

My boyfriend was assigned to work in Jawbone Canyon which is about 45 minutes from Sierra Trails RV Park. It was the closest campground to his worksite so we opted to stay there.

Well, on the very first night they parked us next to a giant propane tank in a glorified parking lot outside of the actual park. We moved from this spot when we discovered this was the closest park to the job site and we’d be staying there a while. They gave us this lease to sign which I couldn’t understand very well. There were so many typos and grammatical errors I had to laugh at it.

When we arrived, we had 2 pet rabbits that stayed in the rv with us. When I asked the owner if I could put up a rabbit pen next to our rv (within the boundaries of our particular sight) she told me she wouldn’t have let us stay there had she known we had rabbits! Finally she agreed to let me put it up only to make me take it down a week later because, and I quote, “it looked like ****”. We then had to get them neutered because they cannot get along otherwise, which resulted in one of them dying.

I am a massage therapist and have a massage chair so I put up a little sign in the window of the rv advertising chair massage. I was told to take that down too. In the rules, it states if you put up a shed or fence on their property, it becomes their property and you must obtain permission to take it with you. Doesn’t that seem a little wrong?

The people who lived there full-time were bizarre. I was told later on we were in the meth capital of the world. Not surprised.

We purposely did not sign the lease they gave us for fear they would try to take our security deposit on a technicality.

At the last day of our stay, my boyfriend went to check out and they informed us we were supposed to give them a month’s notice. With his job, he does not know when he will be coming and going so this was not possible.

The owner called him a “punk” and said we were not welcome back. He laughed because we would NEVER stay there again in a million years.

If you have to stay there for a night or two it’s probably not too bad. Just don’t stay there long term.

Hide-A-Way Lakes Campground – Yorkville, IL

Hide-A-Way Lakes is a really cool campground/recreation park. It is located on the Fox River on 150 acres of woods and ponds and creeks. You can really get back to nature here.

We went biking, hiking and fishing, and I know we haven’t seen everything this place has to offer. We’re tent campers. We fished and grilled our catch of the day. No fishing license was require in the park (way cool)! We are planning another weekend here.

It’s not far outside of Chicago where we live, but we felt like we were vacationing in another state. If you want a great reasonably priced get away for you and the kids, this is that place. If the weather ever gets better this year, we plan on doing the rafting trip on the Fox River.

According to the very friendly staff, it takes 45 minutes to float from one side of the park to their boat launch on the river. It’s about $5 per person for rafts, or you can bring your own. We can’t wait for the kids to experience this.

This place is a treasure if you want to get away from the grind of city life!

Apollo RV Park – Concord, NC

Apollo RV Park is satisfactorily clean park. Which is the best I can say about it.

While I was setting up my campsite, I heard a terrified dog screeching and yelping. I looked, and a running-loose large pit bull was attacking a Chijuajua. The Chijuajua was with the owner, on a leash. The attack lasted several minutes before the pit bull owner, who lived in a Park Model trailer, could get his vicious dog under control.

Since I have several smaller, gentile family pet dogs, I was concerned about their safety. I went to the office and requested another site. This request was denied by the owners. The owners said I should keep my dog under control. I tried to explain that the dog which had been attacked (and injured) Was under control, but a fighting pit bull was not. The owners told me to stop backtalking. The male owner added, “You can get your happy ass out of here right now, but no refunds.”

Later, another of the owners offered me half of my rental back as a refund if I left immediately. I declined that offer. No action was taken against the owner of the pit bull.

I suggest that this park is NOT SAFE for persons with pets or small children. The owners have a very poor attitude regarding the safety of guests and their property.

Fishberry Campground – Valentine, NE

Fishberry Campground | RVBuddy.com

Fishberry Campground is absolutely this nicest campground we have stayed in for a long, long time.

The grounds were green, with lovely flowers planted around the campground. The campground is a natural bird habitat, so this very intertwining! They have the best WiFi ever!

The staff is very helpful and friendly. The sites are 90 to 100 feet long, all pull throughs, 30/50 amp, free showers and WiFi. Kids can catch and release fish in a small pond There is a basketball court, volleyball, horse shoes, a sand box for the little ones. They also have a huge covered picnic pavilion and laundry room.

Fishberry campground sits on 20 acres in the beautiful Sand Hills. Plenty of room for kids and pets to run and play!

There is so much to do in the Valentine area. We are definitely coming back to Fishberry campground for a river trip! This Campground is a definite 10+.

Springfield KOA – Rochester, IL

We stayed at the Springfield KOA from May 22 to 26.

We reserved our site online at the KOA web. Reserved a pull through 30/50 amp site at back of campground away from playground. (as site was described on reservation website). When we arrived we were placed on back in site next to playground. I asked the owner/manager about change and was rudely told would have to pay more than quoted price for pull though if wanted to move. It stated that the online reservation price that I was charged was for the pull trough. Manager said she did not know anything about online reservation quotes and would put me where she wanted.

Most of the pull through sites remained empty during our stay, so it was not an issue of being overbooked. (Far from that! The place was mostly empty).

As it rained quite a bit during our stay, all the sites were muddy with little rock. (mostly mud). The men’s restroom has ceiling falling in on middle shower so it was shut. The drain located there was plugged up with ceiling debris. The women’s restroom was clean and in good shape.

I have been a KOA member for many years and stayed across the country. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a KOA and the worst I have ever been treated. This campground should not be under a KOA franchise.

I will post a review of this campground everywhere I can. No one should utilize this dishonest disgusting campground.

Lake Palestine Gateway RV Park – Chandler, TX

We had such an awesome time at Lake Palestine Gateway RV Park… a brand new park!

We fished the Neches River and rented kayaks. They had full hookups for 20/30/50 amps. The sites were paved and the rates were fair! $35 a night for regular sites and $45 a night for waterfront, which is what we chose.

Everything was really clean and the staff was super friendly. It had a really convenient location to First Monday and Tyler, Texas.

Hidden Valley RV Park – Von Ormy, TX

Hidden Valley RV Park | RVVuddy.com

Hidden Valley RV Park is very close to the fun city of San Antonio, Texas but feels like country.

The private Medio Creek for fishing, quiet nights and skies full of stars, the coyotes howling and the constant run by of the road runners made every day and evening special. Great hosts with helpful service and easy access to highway, stores and services. They have a brand new and always clean bath house and laundry. Many sites are large.

Other amenities include FREE wifi, lots of walking roads and paths,  a “Creekside Clubhouse” with TV room, exercise machines, library/game room, full kitchen and party patio and planned events during the winter season.
