Denver West/Central City KOA – Central City, CO

We stayed at the Denver West KOA Campground in Central City, Colorado for 1 night on 6/19/15.

I had to call the local Police Department at 2am to get a very noisy group that had been drinking all night to settle down. I was told by the office the next day that there was no manager on site that night so they couldn’t have done anything. The group drank until 3am so we got about 2 hrs sleep the whole night. I complained to Chuck the owner and asked for my money back and was told “that’s not going to happen”.

In my opinion, this is not a very safe campground for families as they get a lot of traffic off the highway and the staff has no clue what’s really going on within their campground. This only cost me $43 for a 1 night tent site!

BJ’s Campground has a friendly staff, the park is well maintained and they have clean facilities.

They have full hook ups, cable, internet, long pull thrus, rest rooms and a laundry. Discounts for Good Sam and Woodall’s, and Senior Citizens.

They are pet-friendly and open year-round. They are located One block south of Hwy 85 and 20-16, 902 South Maple, in Lusk, Wyoming. (follow the hospital signs). 307-334-2314.

Highly recommended.

Wichita Falls RV Park – Wichita Falls, TX

When we get rain in Wichita Falls, this place floods.

Also… the maintenance man at this park was very violent to us. During a recent flood, I went to see if I could help a friend move out. Unfortunately, the park was already closed however, I was unaware of this as there was not a barrier or sign posted at the time I drove in, saying the park was closed. Had a barrier or sign been up, I would not have driven in. I pulled back to the office and the maintenance man came walking towards me, raising his arm and shaking his fist in anger. Since he did not appear interested in a conversation, I threw it in reverse and began driving away, trying to get to the exit. At the end of this road, I made a left turn instead of a right. When I realized I made a wrong turn, I did a u-turn to go back the other direction. From out of nowhere, the maintenance man showed up, waving his fist in the air again and hollering at me. I attempted to pull forward. He pounded his fists on the hood of my car. I backed up, tried moving over to the left to get away from him. He did the same thing and pounded his fists on my car, refusing to let me pass through. I lurched forward anyway, almost hitting him. He jumped out of the way and I gunned it, trying to get out of there. As I made my way past him, he pounded his fists on my driver’s side door window. Then he kicked the back driver’s door several times and left scuff marks.

I tried repeatedly for a month to get the owners to read my complaint and get the scuff marks fixed. Because I have known the owners for a long time, I certainly expected them to be responsible and do the right thing but it appears they refuse to accept responsibility. Looking back, I should have called the police. I did not do so because my friend who lives at this property is the son of the owners. He agrees with me about the maintenance man and is a liability to this business. I’d recommend everyone stay away from here because of this employee. His name is Peter.

Route 66 RV Campground – Edgewood, NM

We stopped at Route 66 Campground to use the public dump facilities… What a nice campground!

It’s located between I-40 and Old Route 66 on a hill which offers a nice view. Shade is at a premium here, but the campground is clean, close to town, and it’s easy to get in and out.

It’s a nice stop if you are ready for a rest from a day of traveling. Will definitely come back for a stay.

Crossroads RV Park is under new management, and couldn’t be better!

My husband and I stayed here last winter, and we had a really fun time. The park is very serene, the people here are very kind, and the nature surrounding the park could not be more beautiful.

We had such a nice vacation, and we are even considering coming here next winter to escape the harsh winter of the East Coast for a few months. Crossroads rocks!

We stopped at Westgate RV Campground on our way back home to Ohio. It was very handy, not far from the interstate (I-75) and located next to plenty of places to eat.

It was a peaceful stay with clean showers and a nice pool. The property seemed well kept and they had full hookups with wifi and were pet friendly as long as they were on a leash.

We will stop here again when traveling through this area.

Elk Creek Resort – Piedmont, SD

The Elk Creek Resort in Piedmont, South Dakota is beyond unsatisfactory!

On March 25th we received email confirmation of our reservation for a one-night stay on May 18th. When we arrived in the late afternoon on that day the first thing that happened is that the person in the office was unable, even after several tries, to charge our stay to my Visa. As we were very tired after a long day’s drive I wound up paying cash to move things along.

After parking in our assigned spot, both my partner and I wanted to use the bathroom. I discovered two men’s rooms, one of which was locked, the other being open but out of service and without working lights. I couldn’t see a thing with the door closed. My partner found a similar situation in the Women’s bathrooms: one out of service, the other working but with an adjacent shower section without any working lights. I went back to the office to try to straighten things out and found the person who had been there had left. A note on the door, however, had three phone numbers for guests to use in case of problems. I called the first number and got voicemail. I called the second number and again got voicemail. The third number resulted in some kind of phone company message that I didn’t listen to. We then left.

The next day we called to try to arrange a refund. We were told by whoever answered that they would have to “check with the boss” and that they would call us back. When no call had come by the middle of the next day we called again and were told the same thing — they would check with the boss and get back to use. Again, no return call. We called a third time the following day and were for a third time told the same thing.

We never did receive a return call. Elk Creek Resort is far and away the most poorly managed place I have encountered. In addition, to stiff an unsatisfied customer for a $28 fee shows very poor business judgement.

Cedar Cove RV Park – Elephant Butte, NM

I will never stay at Cedar Cove RV Park again.

There were dogs allowed to run freely through the park, and multiple people walking thru my campsite in plain view of the main office. In my opinion, the staff was rude including the manager.

Poor customer service.

What a pleasant surprise RV park.

We are well into a lengthy RV trip making a big loop from and back to California. We planned our locations in advance and were only doing a brief 2 night stay in Arco to see Craters of the Moon. This gem of a RV park is a delight with nice wide spaces that are level and friendly with full hookups. The owners and staff are very friendly, Ron and Phyllis were wonderful.

Now for the big surprise… they have that rare Cafe on site, and although a very brief menu of choices… the food was delightful. They highlight the smoked “baby backs”, and they were amazing fall off the bone delicious, and nice large portions. Some of the best, better than mine at home.

We strongly urge any travelers to overnight or longer and please spoil yourself at their tiny cafe.

Columbia Riverfront RV Park – Woodland, WA

Columbia Riverfront RV Park is absolutely the most exquisite campground we’ve ever stayed at.

The rates for the park are incredible. All of the sites have views of the river and the traffic on it. It’s interesting to watch the freight traffic on the water. The hosts were very nice and helpful.

The park is immaculate and well kept and the sites are well maintained.
