Heceta Beach RV Park – Coast Ranges, OR

0

If you want to be close to the beach and that’s the most important thing, then Heceta Beach RV Park is a good place. You don’t have a beach view, but it’s just a short walk to the beach. The park is somewhat cramped and cumbersome to maneuver through, but I have been in worse.

When you enter the park, the "Check in line" is a VERY sharp hard left turn. (There is a second entrance that is easier, if you know about it ahead of time.) On the other hand, the RV spaces are long, and can accommodate big rigs. There were a lot of "big rigs" here during my stay. I would have loved to see how they maneuvered around and got into their spaces as it was difficult with my 30 foot. The spaces are close together, but there is some attempt at privacy by having very tall shrubs and trees between the spaces. My cat was entertained! Spots are gravel and mostly back-in with a few "pull-throughs." Each space has a picnic table and a small fire ring.

Try to avoid getting placed in spots 41, 42, and 31, as those spaces are right next to the restrooms and people will walk through your site to go to the restrooms. Some spaces are full hookup to include cable, some are water and sewer (and cable) only.

This park also has tent spaces if you have children who would like to have their own spot away from the adults! The laundry and restrooms were fairly clean, but not perfect. The laundry room is small (two washers two dryers) and during my stay, one of the washers was out of service. The state of Oregon emphasizes recycling, and this park had some recycle containers next to the garbage area. There is a pay phone available in case your cell phone provider doesn’t cover this area.

There is a fairly well stocked mini mart, but as mini marts go, it’s overpriced as usual. Propane service is available, but I didn’t check prices. The cable service is decent, and if you have an HD-ready TV with you, you will also get the HD stations and audio stations. As of this writing, this park does not have WiFi, but they have a modem hookup in a desk in the office. They supply the phone cable, you just hook up your computer and use your dial-up software. Staff is friendly and helpful!

Tumwater NF Campground – Levenworth, WA

OK, it’s a dry campground and I know that many of my fellow RVers like the full hookups, but if you have the time and your in the area, this National Forest Campground is great for an overnighter or for a fort nighter. What I found so amazing is most of the 80+ sites are private and it actually takes some effort to see your neighbor. Located 10 miles west of Levenworth, this campground is nestled between the Wenachee River, Chiwaukum Creek and Highway 2 (part of the Cascade Loop). Most sites back up to one of the three. Those that back up toward the highway hear a lot of traffic noise during the day, but at night few folks are on the road and all is quiet. That’s not true for the sites backing up to the river, the ‘babbling’ is constant and enjoyable.

While your in the area, you can float the river and or picnic and wade in its shallows. If you continue west on Highway 2 there is a restaurant/bar/motel/gas station combo on the left. (The gas was cheaper there than in Levenworth by about a dime) We had breakfast there one morning and while the wait was long, the food was good.

Spending a day in Levenworth is also fun, its a tourist trap, but an honest one. Lots of wine tasting and fruit stands that sell everything currently ripe. We had a great hamburger at a little place on the west end of town called Heidleburger, which I also highly recommend.

The campground is open May or June thru October and reservations are available through Reserve America, but I don’t think you need it unless you have a super long rig or its over a holiday weekend. Sites are $16. a night but half that if your a Golden Ager.

Upon arrival stop in and say hello to the hosts as they will help you find a site that suits your needs and they are super friendly.

Pomona RV Park – Galloway, NJ

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy.com

Pomona RV Park is a nice place, at a good price ($37 a night), with excellent WiFi and very deep cable selection, and mostly shaded sites with cement pads that keep the sand and dirt outside. Apparently, new owners took over in January of this year (2007) and have been pretty busy since then, upgrading and repairing the place. Probably 10 percent seasonal or permanent trailers here, but more than half of those are vacant. There’s plenty of kids’ playground equipment, and there’s a pretty good sized open field for walking dogs. A nice pool with hot tub, and a game room with some great vintage/retro machines and a pool table.

It takes us twenty minutes to get to the north end of the Strip or to the Borgata (Marina Bay area of Atlantic City). Not hard to get here either: It’s off exit 12, on the Atlantic City Expressway, go north and it’s about three miles and change from the exit, big sign on the left. Route 30 is right up the road a mile or so north of the campground; take a right and there’s a nice diner down a mile toward AC on the left, and then take 30 east and it’s a good straight shot to the casinos.

The campground borders the AC airport, but we have not heard any excessive noise since we got here yesterday. (Mostly the airport is used by highrollers and gulf streams, etc…, so it’s not as busy as a real airport.)

The sites are pretty tight… the ones next to us are empty, but if they were occupied, it’d be very close here. Probably fifty percent occupancy now, on a hot August Friday. We’ll definitely return here.

Carthage RV Park – Carthage, TN

Carthage RV Park was a nice campground with extremely friendly, helpful staff. The sites had all concrete level RV pads, and the utilities were in good shape and well positioned on the site. There was standard cable TV with plenty of choices for basic TV. There was plenty of grass between the sites but there was absolutely no shade. The sites were large and very roomy. We had a pull through site and had no problems positioning our 33? fifth wheel. The restrooms were very clean and air conditioned. The pool was very nice and stayed open late during our stay in mid July.

The only real negative about the park is it is located right off of the 59 Loop around Carthage. The traffic went on all night and was bothersome for sleeping

We camped here in a fifth wheel and highly recommend this park.

Graceland RV Park – Memphis, TN

Graceland RV Park was a nice campground with extremely friendly, helpful staff. The sites had level, gravel RV pads, and the utilities were in good shape and well positioned on the site. There was no cable TV but the reception on the Memphis TV stations was adequate for news, weather, cartoons etc. There was plenty of grass between the sites but there was absolutely no shade. The sites were a bit close, but still plenty of room. We had a pull through site and had no problems positioning our 33? fifth wheel. The restrooms were clean but were not air conditioned. The pool was very nice and stayed open late during our stay in mid July.

This park is perfect for visiting Graceland. Everything is walking distance. I had read before our trip that some folks were concerned about safety and security in the area. We stayed here 2 nights and felt a constant presence by the staff and had absolutely no concerns what-so-ever for our safety or security. I was perfectly comfortable in this park.

The Rock N Roll caf? is located in front of the park (actually in front of Heartbreak Hotel) and we saw a great Elvis show and had a good meal. Kids were able to go in and we had a great time. The staff at the Rock N Roll cafe? was awesome.

We camped here in a fifth wheel and highly recommend this park.

Two Rivers Campground – Nashville, TN

Two Rivers Campground was a nice park with extremely friendly, helpful staff. The sites had level, gravel RV pads, and a great concrete patio with picnic table. The utilities were in good shape and were well positioned on the site. There was no cable TV but the reception on the Nashville TV stations was adequate for news, weather etc. There was plenty of grass between the sites and a nice amount of shade. The sites were a bit close, but still plenty of room and I had no problems backing in my 33? fifth wheel. The restrooms were clean and air conditioned. The pool was very nice and stayed open at least until 9 pm. There was live country music on the patio near the pool that was fun and entertaining.

This park is in a great location, right next door to Camping World, and just down the street from the Grand Ole Opry.

We camped here in a fifth wheel and highly recommend this park.

Jellystone Park Camp Resort – Cave City, KY

This was the most overpriced RV Park we have ever stayed at. The sites had gravel RV pads that were horribly un-level. The landscape was dismal, and there was almost no shade. I noticed a dozen or more trees throughout the park with no leaves on them, and we were there in Mid July. The utilities were in OK shape but were terribly positioned in relationship to my RV. I had to almost park the rear of my rig in the road so my sewer hose with extension would reach the sewer drop.

The restrooms were clean, but no AC. There were 2 rest room buildings in the RV park, but in one of the buildings the men?s room was closed, out of order, the entire time we were there. In the only open men?s room in the park area, one of the 3 toilets was out of order the entire time we were there.

The pool was large and very nice, but was always crowded. The park welcomed (for a fee) day visitors to use the water activities.

The water slide was a big hit for my kids, but it cost an additional $6 per day, per kid, even though we were paying almost $45 per night.

I would not recommend this park, and will not return.

Joe Wheeler State Park – Rogersville, AL

0

Joe Wheeler State Park is probably one of the nicest, most scenic state parks we have ever stayed in. It definitely rivals our great Texas state parks.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, even after closing when we arrived late at night. The roads were black top and the sites had level black top RV pads as well. The full hook-up utilities were in good shape and well positioned on the site. Local TV reception from Huntsville was very good. There were plenty of trees so the sites were completely shaded. The sites were very large and roomy. There was plenty of privacy between sites.

The rest rooms were decent, but were the typical state park flavor. This was not an issue for us because we were using the full hook-ups.
There was a great swimming hole over at the day area. Only problem here was you had to drive to get to it because it was too far to walk with lawn chairs, towels, ice chest etc.

Price was $19 per night.

We camped here in a fifth wheel and highly recommend this park.

Wilderness RV Park, Lynchburg, TN

Unless you are desperate, I would keep driving. The reason we originally selected this park was because it was the only one I could find in the area.

We pulled in and selected a site, but never saw any personnel. The campground was a deserted, hilly, un-level rocky field of weeds. The actual site was reasonably level, but the utilities were terribly positioned at the very back of the pad. I had to use my extension for my electric and would have had to use my extensions for sewer and water had we planned to use full hook-ups. We were only staying for the night so we planned to use the campground restrooms instead of hooking up.When my wife and kids went to check out the restrooms, they returned and said hook it back up, we are not staying here. The rest rooms were hot, muggy and dirty, and there were bugs all over the place.

We hooked up and departed. I would not recommend this park and will not return.

Creekside RV Park – Pigeon Forge, TN

0

Creekside RV Park was a very nice campground, at a great price. We paid about $27 with GS discount. Like all the parks in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, the sites were very close together, but from what we saw from the other parks that we drove through, this park has as much room as any of them and more than most of them. This campground is also located off the main road, so it was not as crowded getting in and out, and traffic noise was non-existent. It was however centrally located, so getting to all the attractions was easy and convenient.

The staff at this park was friendly, and the one and only issue we had (a breaker kept tripping), they had replaced on a Sunday afternoon very shortly after I reported it.

The sites had level, gravel RV pads, and a great concrete patio with picnic table. The utilities were in good shape (especially after the breaker was replaced) and were well positioned on the site. There was standard cable TV with lots of choices. There was plenty of grass between the sites and a nice amount of shade. I had no problems backing in my 33? fifth wheel.

The restrooms were clean, air conditioned, and well appointed. The pool was very small but adequate to accommodate my kids. It was open until 10 or so during our stay in mid July.

We camped here in a fifth wheel and highly recommend this park.
