Colter Bay Village Campground and RV Park – Moran, WY

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy.com

We have stayed at Colter Bay Village Campground and RV Park which is a first come first served National Park campground (Dry Camping)

For $20.00 a night, $10.00 for Golden Age or Golden Access Passport, you get a site with a picnic table, fire pit and access to water and flush bathrooms.

Showers are available at the village laundrette with attendents. In the village you can find a general store, museum, marina, restaurant, gift shop and a host other various activites. A short order grill is available that has wonderful food. Be prepared for a wait but well worth it. The chili is wonderful for an evening meal and menu for breakfast is great.

There is an RV Park with full hook ups located there in which reservation will need to be made. $55.00 a night in season and $42.00 a night late season. No fire pits but you do have picnic tables. There is horseback riding and lots of scenic hiking trails and nightly fire-side chats.

We have stayed there at least 5 times and will be back many more times as it is a wonderful place to stay and site see from to Yellowstone, Jackson Hole and points beyond.

If you go to Elk mountain you can see Elk coming down from the mountain to feed around dusk. There is a scenic photo-op from the top of Elk Mountain. Be sure to visit it.

Alta Lake State Park – Pateros, WA

Alta Lake State Park is about 4 miles from the town of Pateros, WA and 30 miles from Lake Chelan. It’s a nice park, lots of tall pines, a small lake for fishing, swimming, wind surfing and while not recommended, water skiing.

There are two sections for RVs. The first loop on the right as you enter the park has about 17 sites with electricity and water. Unfortunately few are level – the back in sites slope forward and the pull-thrus lean to the right. The pull-thrus are the best…

If you continue down the road there is a second section with electricity and water and the sites are paved. They are all back in sites and again slope to the right.

We came the first part of June and if you come be careful of nesting birds. We hadn’t been there for 2 hours when we noticed some tiny birds were making their nest in our refrigerator vent. We had to cover it and clean out about a dozen twigs. There was also a sign that there had been a recent cougar siting, but the biggest mammal we saw was a gray squirril. The host said a coyote had come in the morning but we didn’t see him either.

Bathrooms are clean, showers take quarters, each section has a host.

This park doesn’t take reservations and so if you want a spot come early in the season.

Loon Lake Lodge and RV Resort – Reedsport, OR

I like to avoid weekend getaways that are too close to the highway and one of my friends recommended the Loon Lake Lodge in Reedsport, Oregon for its peaceful ambience.

We drove from the Eugene airport and were greeted by a herd of elk grazing away unperturbed by the curious onlookers. That set the tone for the trip which was one of the best we have had in recent times. Loon Lake is a great place. It’s easily accessible and yet, has a natural aura about it. Coming back to the resort, we are a family of 3. But we chose a riverfront cottage. It has a deck that overlooks the lake and there’s nothing like having a drink hearing the loons in the distance. Just melts the stress away. The cottage was very spacious and well furnished. The kitchen was well stocked. And the linen was clean and fresh.

The marina area has different types of boats for rental and we spent some time in a Pontoon boat which was a first for the kid. I tried by hand at Canoeing but it was a lot more difficult than it seems. The kid was also introduced to fishing. Her first time and she caught her first fish within minutes.

If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place with great services that wont drain your pocket, then this is it.

Camp’n Aire RV Resort – Lake Wales, FL

We stayed at Camp’n Aire years ago and vowed not to return, not because of the residents but because the campground was old and tired. That’s where the old ends and the new begins…

A few years ago, new owners bought the campground which is now an RV Resort, and I mean that in a great way. Some of our friends who had been staying there contacted us and said, you have got to come back for a visit, if you can get a spot for the season. We took their advise and went down for a visit…

The place is incredible, new electric, new grass, newly remodeled clubhouse, the old RV’s that are sold to new owners have to be totally remodeled to the parks specifications or be removed from the park… they look like brand new park models.

The owner’s are great, they live there and truly do everything to make you want to stay and feel at home. The park was never close to being full before, even during the winter season, now it’s hard to get in. We didn’t, and had to just visit our friends, who had been booked for the season.

I hope we can get back in, we’re on a waiting list and it is worth the wait!

Lehman’s Lakeside RV Resort – Marengo, IL

We were seasonal for six years at Lehmans Lakeside RV Pesort. The reason we stayed was wonderful fellow campers.

Our electric never worked on our site. It blew a circuit board on our brand new camper. We got a surge protector and electric fried it. Then we went and purchased a new 300.00 one and that one showed we never were getting enough power to run the 30 amp. Never was it fixed completely and continued to have problems, until this year when we had no power all summer and had to move to another site. We were told it would be fixed, so we were waiting patiently for it to be fixed.

The roads in this campground are horrible. All of them need repair and none of them are getting it. Electric doesn’t work on many sites. There is a mound of asphalt (used) on the area the call the island. Been there three years we were told it was to repair the roads, but has not been moved or used for this at all. As far as I am concerned a health hazard, first for the chemicals, second for the injuries that can happen when kids play on it.

The water is not clean as it used to be. Has so much floating goose poop that you cannot swim in it safely. They advertise free Wi-Fi and cable. However, Wi-Fi and cable does not work. They advertise activities, and this year notified everyone that there will be no activities. They overcharge for electric also. They do not maintain any of the grounds. Signs break and they leave them. Playground breaks and they leave it. Don’t get the site with the nice deck and shed. That is the one we had with no power. I would never recommend this RV Park to anyone. When we moved in six years ago we had high hopes for it and we were told so many things were going to be improved, however nothing was done.

Brooks Mill RV Park – Bertram, TX

Brooks Mill RV Park is located in Bertram, Texas and is situated between Brooks Mill Road on the north and State Highway 29 on the south. The park is approximately 300 ft wide on the east end and 475 ft wide on the west end. There is a single oval road through the park with parking spaces on either side of the oval. There is an active RR track that borders the south side of the park and runs between the park and State Highway 29.

My wife and I arrived October 15 2017. We had prepaid $125 deposit for electrical use and to hold the site. We charged an additional $240 at our arrival, anticipating a pleasant stay through the end of October. After turning in for the night, we were awakened sometime after midnight by two different freight trains. The noise was extremely loud and my wife experienced a severe panic attack. We had no choice but to leave the following day.

I explained the situation to the park manager (Roxanne) and asked if they would consider refunding our payment less one night’s stay. Roxanne said she would have to check with the owners and get back to me. She did not get back with me. About a week later I called the park and got another person who said they would contact the owner and call me back right away. Never heard back from this person. I called the park on October 29 and got the owner (Kristi). She explained to me that their policy was not to make refunds for any reason; that they were a business and made their money off the reservations. When I raised the train issue, Kristi’s response was that I should have researched this before I booked the reservation.

To be fair, the contract that my wife signed upon our arrival did clearly state that there would be no refunds. This statement also appears on their website. We did receive a credit back of $110 for our deposit against electric usage, but no consideration on the rent payment. This is the first no-refund policy we’ve run into. There is, of course, no mention on their website of trains in close proximity to the park.

If you Google Brooks Mill RV Park and check out the satellite view of the mapped area, you will clearly see the train tracks and the highway. Taking Kristi’s advice to research this, I pass my findings on to you. If you love trains blasting their horns during sleeping hours, then you’ll love this place. You may also be interested to know that there was a 22-car train derailment right in front of the park at about 1:15am on April 19, 2017. You can Google “train derailment in Bertram TX” and several articles with photos will come up.

I found Brooks Mill to be overpriced with narrow parking spaces flanked by lower, somewhat depressed areas. No real place to put out a rug except on the drive in front of or behind your RV. Compared to other RV parks we’ve visited, I would consider this site to be only mediocre. There is also continuous heavy traffic noise from Highway 29.

I would strongly recommend not booking anything more that a one night’s stay before you commit to extended stay at Brooks Mill. $240 for one night was a big bite for us; we will not be back.

Let the buyer beware.

Trailer Inns RV Park – Yakima, WA

I’ve never been so moved to warn people about Trailer Inns RV Park.

My husband and I have stayed in dozens of RV parks. This is by far the worst! It’s located in a horrible part of town, crack heads and druggies walk through. Lean on the fences and shout at you. You have to take dogs outside of the barb wire fence where all of these people pass through. Both street lights are out too. We’ve been here for a month and a half and never have I felt safe.

I’ve complained to management only to be told I’d be charged if I let my dog pee inside the park. The actual park itself is ok, but during all hours of the day and night you’ll hear the mind numbing sound of the brewery next door. I had to start buying sleeping pills. Plus when you walk outside it smells like stale beer.

Whispering Hills RV Park has very nice, clean, level sites… although you must use a water pressure regulator.

The campground has a Friday night movie with great popcorn. It’s easy to get around. Parking was crowded, as you had to park nose to tail on the road. Sites a little close together.

They have 230 sites with w/e/s, WIFI, picnic tables, fire rings at all back-in sites, a playground, basketball court, pool, fishing pond, Pavilion, bath houses with individual bath rooms for privacy, a laundry. They are Big Rig Accessible with 30 pull-thrus (no fires rings at any pull-thru sites). All sites are 20, 30 and 50 amp electric service.

Whispering Hills is located close to the ARK Encounter attraction. Rates are in the $35 range.

Whispering Hills is situated in the heart of horse country in Georgetown.

Mill Creek Marina and Campground – Vance, SC

Mill Creek Marina and Campground is located about 6 miles east of I-95, exit 98… where Mill Creek spills into Pickwick Lake.

The marina has 90 wet storage slips, a public boat launch, and a bait shop, laundry, and a small convenience store. Their “Food & Spirits Restaurant” has sandwiches, burgers, catfish dinners or steak. Liquor, wine and beer are also available.

The campground has 54 campsites. Interior roads are dirt and most sites are surrounded my large shade trees. The atmosphere is laidback. It’s a great place just to relax, fish and sit by the campfire at night.

Mill Creek Campground makes a great overnight stop for I-95 travelers looking for a quiet, peaceful nights rest.
