Trackrock Campground and Cabins – Blairsville, GA

0
Trackrock Campground | I-75 Exit Guide

Trackrock Campground and Cabins is 300 acres of meadows, hayfields, and woodlands in the shadow of Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest point.

Completely isolated from all other commercial developments, the property is bordered on three sides by National Forest. Great care is taken to preserve the natural environment. Wildlife, flowers, and flowering shrubs are abundant throughout the campground and surrounding area. There are about 100 level, shaded, uncrowded campsites with water and electricity. Some sites are pull-through, and about half have sewer hookups as well. Bath houses located in the camping area are clean and equipped with hot showers.

One and two bedroom cabins are available for those who prefer not to camp. The cabins are fully furnished, including kitchens, and have covered porches, picnic tables and grills.

The office and recreation building, or Talking House (guests just naturally seem to congregate there in the evenings) also offers a laundry facility, ice, firewood, and LP gas.

Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort – Mayo, FL

Suwannee River Rendezvous | RVBuddy.com

Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort is a beautiful place to camp. Convict Springs has history connected with it. There is a lot to do here, Kayaks, and Canoes for rent however most of it is on weekends. They have trips floating down the river. It sounds like fun.

The park is very large, and located right on the Suwannee river. There are 3 sections. The upper one is pretty level, with almost all paved roads and gravel sites with a lot of pull through sites. All the trees are very small, with virtually no shade. It would be really hot in the summertime. The lower section, which is the older area is sand roads and sites. There are many trees and lots of shade.

The lot we were in, #47 was almost level side to side, but not at all lengthwise. With our trailer, front to back wasn’t a problem, and a board under the wheels on the low side fixed the side to side. We have stayed at worse. Along the riverbank there are what appears to be areas for tents. It would be fun to camp in a tent along the banks of such a famous river.

It is very quiet. No Highway noise from anywhere.

Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort is about 6 miles to the nearest town, Mayo, so bring supplies. The nearest Walmart is Live Oak, Fl. Maybe 30 miles away. We had lunch at The Mayo Cafe. in Mayo, Fl. about 6 miles away. It is a smörgåsbord, and not bad. Check your plates and silverware.

On the Plus side:
The people in the office are very friendly and helpful. It has a restaurant/diner open weekends, Friday through Sunday only. The office is on the river and has a large lodge. It’s nice. There are video games, TV, Book Swap, and they have a small store with a few essentials. There is a playground. There is a large Dog Park with 3 sections . It is a nice one, but the only place in the whole RV park with doggy a bag container, and when I was there the container was empty.

Minus:
To get to the campground you must navigate a, dusty road. The check in office is a long way from the sites, especially the upper ones. There is a parking lot for RVs at the upper area. It’s not possible to drive to the office with your RV, unless you have a very small one or are good at backing up. They recommend you go to your site and get set up then go to the office and check in.

Although they spend a lot of time cleaning the park, not much seems to be spent repairing stuff. Our site (47) had 2 power receptacles, each in a different place. The post where the water and one electric is located is rotten in the ground and about to fall over. The restrooms in the lower section are clean, but old and badly in need of paint. There is no cable in the lower section. Our phone service was marginal. There is no Wifi there, and even when I walked to where I could get a signal, (right next to the office) I couldn’t get a connection. I tried in the upper section, and I could connect, but couldn’t hold a connection long enough to do anything. Virtually no TV over the air. Got one station (3 channels) from the college in Gainesville. Gasoline in Mayo is about 20 cents more expensive than anywhere else.

Bottom line:
We will come back. It is a beautiful place to get away. The people are friendly and helpful. There are lots of areas to walk. Following the riverbank was fun. I’m not much good with canoes, and have never been in a kayak, but sounds like fun for those youngsters who do. Weekends there is a lot going on.

Harbor Belle RV Resort – Punta Gorda, FL

I would not recomment staying at Harbor Belle RV Resort.

This is a privately owned RV park. The owners have basically closed all the facilities in this park while we were there. We have two clubhouses. One basically for books, puzzles, videos, exercise equipment and group activists. The other is a large clubhouse for dinners, park gatherings and dinners with live music. All this recent closed. The facilities were open for about one month since covid started. They refused to open the facilities after the Governor opened the state and opened them for a few weeks after requiring everyone who wanted to use the facilities sign a document from their lawyers saying we would not sue them if contacting covid.

We currently have the pool open limited to 5 people the hot tub 4 people. Rent is around $620 a month and is raised by at least $50 a year.

If you want a place just to stay without any activities, this is it. The location is close to the harbor and clean. living in lockdown in an open state!

Shore Hills Campground – Boothbay, ME

Shore Hills Campground | RVBuddy.com

Shore Hills is a very nice campground, with very large wooded sites and waterfront sites available. The campground has a very helpful and courteous staff and they offer a shuttle service to Boothbay Harbor several times a day.

They have a store and gift shop for groceries, supplies, wood, ice, souvenirs and information about the area. They have waterfront, open and wooded sites, full hookups with 30/50 Amp, cable tv, paved roads, picnic tables and fireplaces. Amenities also include hot showers, a laundry, public phones, propane and a dumping station.

The campground restrooms are dated but clean. The one drawback of this park to families is the lack of a swimming pool, but that did not bother us.

We camped here in a motorhome in October 2019.

Jantzen Beach RV Park – Portland, OR

Jantzen Beach Campground - Portland, OR | RVBuddy.com

I almost passed on Jantzen Beach RV Park because of previous reviews. I am so glad that I didn’t.

The location is good. It’s a short drive to Portland Downtown and the “interesting things” to see. It is true that arriving in Portland during rush hour is a problem, and rush hour begins at 2:30. All traffic is eventually routed onto a limited number of bridges, which will cause delays. However, prior to 4:00, the delay isn’t long.

Jantzen’s is a pleasing park. Lots of grass, three pools, a reasonable gym, and nice people to welcome you. It’s very nice place for dog walking. I do not notice a noise problem. I was there for two nights, Friday and Saturday. Train whistles can be heard, starting about 9:30PM. The last was at 11:30 PM on Friday and there were very few prior to that. I didn’t notice any road noise at all during my entire stay.

There are long term RVers. However, there are none of the problems we associate with that description. This park is well managed, well maintained, and a great place to stay, long term or just overnight. My motorhome is 42′. I tow a car, and had no problem maneuvering within the park. I would have rated this park a 10, but for the poor Wi-Fi where we were. I will definitely make a reservation at this park for my next trip to Portland. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Savannah South KOA – Richmond Hill, GA

Savannah South KOA | RVBuddy.com

We had the pleasure of meeting some of the staff at the Savannah South KOA and they were a sheer delight. They were enthusiastic and friendly and extremely willing to help.

We were more than happy with our stay! They have won several awards for their improvements and seem to be striving to keep the improvements going.

The campground has large pull thrus, wifi, cable tv, fishing, a large pool (in season) a coin-operated RV wash and plenty of recreation. Be sure to check out the waterfowl that flocks to the 35-acre fishing pond. Rent a boat here and join them for a relaxing float.

A nice feature is their sightseeing tours… You choose the day for your Savannah tour and they will have the tour bus pick you up in front of the office at 9:00AM and drop you off around 5:00PM. Tickets available for purchase in the office. The Old Town Trolley offers a Paula Deen Tour as well that includes dinner at her restaurant Lady & Sons with VIP seating and no waiting in line! Your own transportation to Downtown Savannah is required for the Paula Deen Tour.

The scenery is beautiful and the serenity is priceless.  They are located less than a mile from I-95, exit 87 in Richmond Hill, Georgia.

Tallahassee East RV Park – Monticello, FL

Tallahassee East RV Park | RVBuddy.com

Tallahassee East RV Park is close to the Interstate, but have to go several miles from the exit to get to the park although the park is right next to I-10. There is some road noise where they put the short timers, but it wasn’t so loud as to be annoying and traffic died down a lot in the evening.

Check in was easy and pleasant. It’s a Good Sam park, but we aren’t members, so it cost us $48.00. Even with Good Sam, it would have been over $43.00. That’s a bit high but for one night we can handle it. This park is just about halfway from home and my brother in law near De Funiak Springs, so the convenience is worth something.

The roads are dirt and rough in places. The sites are dirt and grass. Ours, D-4 was slightly off level, but our wood pieces fixed that. It had full hookup. The power has on-off switches.

The park is an old one, but it is clean as were the restrooms. I couldn’t get any hot water to wash my hands, and I ran it a good long time.

There are a lot of long timers, but the ones we saw were friendly, with waves and smiles.
There is a laundry with good looking washers and dryers, but the roof leaks over the folding table. How well the washers work is not known. We had some garbage to deposit. The one Dumpster was slap full but it was after the weekend!

There is a nice looking pool, but it was empty for the winter I suppose. There is a nice Rec Room and there is a small store in the office with stuff you might need.

Be careful when you walk. Someone doesn’t pick up after their dog.

At the exit from the interstate there are several gas stations, and some fast food restaurants. We bought gas at the Chevron, and had no trouble maneuvering our 25 foot travel trailer.

Bottom line… A bit expensive for what you get, but we will most likely stop there again. The grounds are easy to drive in and most sites are pull thru. They aren’t far apart, but not right on top of each other either. They are long enough so we didn’t need to unhook. There are many trees but they are not in the way.

Honeys Park Free Dry Camp n Dog Park – Arco, ID

Honey's Dry Camping | RVBuddy.com

If you ever need a spot to stay with little services, but no fee, a friendly owner with a campfire and a free beer waiting for you; stop on in. If you’re looking for a regular RV park type camp, go next door to the KOA. But if you stop at Honeys you’ll have more fun. His site makes fun of even his own campground, but it’s really just a safe harbor for those tired of, or who can’t afford to pay for RV parks.

It’s named after a dog, and is in fact a total dog park. Off leash everywhere, owner would kick an unfriendly human out long before kicking out a friendly dog. Even has a memorial tree grove for you to plant a memorial to your companions if you wish.

Check it out www.honeyspark.weebly.com or on pretty much every app, google, etc.
