Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park – South Fork, CO

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy.com

Peacock Meadows is a beautiful Park. They have large lots, a small dog park, and areas to sit by the river.

We stayed there for 2 years. Their rates went up every year, and they are a bit spendy! My husband would volunteered around the park when needed and the first year was nice. I volunteered to host the weekly pot luck dinner and the weekly Bingo game.

The biggest problem with the park became Ron who runs the park! He is one of those people who thinks he know everything. While we were there we had to change lots 3 times. The 2nd year we were there he started harassing us about several things, so we left. I asked that if we received any mail to let us know so we could come and get it, they let us know one time. I later found out I had more mail sent there after that and they did not tell us. It’s a shame the owner Dave does not know how much money he is losing because of Ron!

Butterfield RV Resort and Observatory – Benson, AZ

This is the best RV park in Arizona! They have daily activities at times that are super convenient and accommodating, as well as nightly activities that are fun and convenient.

The resort is super clean and the staff is incredibly friendly and loving. Across the street is the post office with the nicest postal clerk on the planet and next door to the park is Safeway (how convenient is that!) you can walk there too. Within walking distance is a great Mexican place and you can ride your bicycle to Walmart as it’s only about 3 blocks from the park.

The park’s laundry facilities are conveniently located across from the rv spaces, and yet in the same building as the clean restrooms and showers as well as the library, tv room/lounge, kitchen, coffee and tea, and modern workout room… so it’s all just too wonderful to believe!

Open to all guests, The Observatory at Butterfield RV Resort features a Meade LX-200 GPS 16 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. This university quality installation is housed in a 15’ diameter electrically operated dome.

This is truly the very best park in the entire state of Arizona and if you want to feel incredibly blessed, welcomed, and like you are “family” spend some time at this park.

This campground is absolutely wonderful! The property is clean and beautiful. The location is convenient, off I-75 in Georgia, North of Atlanta. I was pleasantly surprised to see the deer. All sites have water and 30 or 50 amp electric. Bathrooms are clean. Many sites for larger motorhomes. Several pull-throughs.

The variety of sites with over 100 to choose from and almost 2/3 are reservable online at www.recreation.gov or by telephone. They also have walk-up sites that you can get the day you want to camp. Great care has been taken on the grounds. For us, we were glad to see that the gate locked at 10:30 pm during the summer which made us feel safer. Many campgrounds have no gate.

The four campground attendants we met were both professional and courteous. However, they do ask that you follow the guidelines and rules of the Corps that are printed on the back of the green map. While we were at the window checking in, there were customers who were very rude to the attendants who were trying their best to explain “Please park your car behind the other customers and come up to the front window to register.” Many wanted to argue and insist they didn’t need a parking pass and could just drive through to tour the park or visit their friends. I now understand why I have seen poor reviews of this campground. The campers don’t want to follow the rules. They want their dogs off the leash, park anywhere, stay after visiting hours, and not stand in line. And still, it was one of the best campgrounds we have ever visited.

Atlanta, Georga is nearby; a day trip to Tennessee; and many small historic towns nearby.

Overall, once we got to our site and began to camp, we had a great time.

Boot Hill RV Resort – Alamogordo, NM

Boot Hill RV Resort is a fairly new rv park with huge rig sites (full hookups all 50 amp). They have both pull-throughs and backin sites. The campground is located about halfway between Alamogordo and Tularosa.

The park has great owners… they are very helpful and friendly. The property is very quiet with little traffic noise and NO trains! Every site has a view of beautiful mountain scenery. The resort has a big pavilion with live entertainment, movies, potluck suppers and more.

They also have a great gift shop. The laundry and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Also, they have horse corals, a dog walk, wi-fi and much more. This is a must campground to stay at!

Poche Plantation Camping RV Park – Convent, LA

Poche Plantation is a National Historic Victorian Mansion located in the Heart of Plantation Country. It’s owned by Mark, one crazy character and I mean that in a delightful crazy fun kind of way.

We called the lovely Poche Plantation home for four nights last spring and left feeling like we were family. I talked to Mark on the phone several times while arranging this trip and we followed him to our nice shaded concrete site, set up and plugged in. He drives a golf cart over about 30 minutes and he tells us to pay when we leave. Puzzled I asked not now and he said cause y’all bout to have dinner. I said we just arrived and may cook later but quickly Mark said, ya’ll like food, don’t y’all? And then before anyone could even respond he said how bout music y’all ain’t got no time for that, then why y’all in Louisiana and here if “ain’t none of y’alls got time for that”? Mark was not asking nor was he suggesting.

We went to the plantation tour on a Saturday morning because when Mark came to pick us up and he kept telling us we were registered for six adults and the cook might come and make some morning coffee for us. This guy was not your average tour guide he was/is very funny, he had us in stitches during the entire 90 minutes of his imaginary tour that involves ghost, spies, murdered guest, and the historic graveyard we walked in setup a serious of hilarious situation as we reflected on our two day drive home, we couldn’t help but laugh some more. And yes, we visited the 200+ year old Grotto all made with sugar cane all within a short walk from our RV Site we heard the bells signifying 12 noon as well as the sounds of the famous, one of a kind, and a must see and hopefully hear this “Pipe Organ”.

We hiked the river, we biked to Manreasa on cool river view bike trails, we saw a 16′ gator as well as a bear, crawfish and then a bear cub all carved in massive trees. Those carvings are beautifully done another must see. We went in the pool, yes the hot tub too while Momma sunbathed on a large sun deck area while my oldest used the guest kitchen in the Rec House. I don’t swim long on days where you can watch NASCAR in the Poche Movie Rooms large screen. It’s race day and I never seen a race on a 84″ TV.

And at a RV Park? Yep I say it is not a park, but a resort. The whole experience is quite unique as staying on a historic actual plantation and meeting the owner was cool. We know we going back to this place and have already told some friends but what was really different was we felt lie we were not just gonna come back to stay but also to see a “new friend”, Mr. Mark, who we just had a great time and who treated us like family… Great experience…. Thanks

Oak Harbor Lodging and RV Park – Haines City, FL

55+ park, Nice clean well kept park, beautiful lake, but fishing pier was always under water. A few sites with amazing waterfront view but they are placing permanent mobile homes on those sites.

Owner & Manager are not RV friendly altho we never met Owner. They are gradually making this into a mobile home park, buying & adding mobile homes one at a time.

Bathrooms, showers, community centers/halls were closed due to COVID, billiards room & laundry was open but we didn’t use.

We are full time RV people. After viewing pricing & details on the web, we called & got the same pricing from park Manager. We visited & fell in love with a waterfront site. The price of the site changed 3x while we were there. In hindsight this should have been our clue to run, but we loved the view, park was nice & we thought the Manager was nice as well so we made a reservation for a 6/6 stay which required upfront payment for the 2nd 6 months. 2 days later Manager called, tried talking us into taking the site that was our 2nd choice because they wanted to put a mobile home on our site but wouldn’t be until after the season when we were not there so we said no.

Moved in 2 weeks later. Once we got settled, Manager having seen my near perfect credit score tried talking me in to paying 12 months rent over a 70 day period (Oct 24-Jan1). She says to me, “I told the owner you won’t need 6 months to pay, you can do it in 3.” When I told her it made no sense she tried making it sound like she was doing me a favor & giving me 4 months to pay. To me 70 days = 2-1/3 months, but either way, it made no sense. Why would I pay 12 months rent up front?

Couple other things came up, got so bad that every time we saw her walking our way we looked at each other & said “What Now?” Last straw – her call saying owner rode by, saw we had 2 vehicles & said 1 had to move to overflow lot (aprox 1/4 mile from our site). We both have jobs, walking 1/4 mile to a car at 5:30 am was not an option. WE MOVED OUT which is probably what they were shooting for.

We were up front about everything who we are, what we have, how we live, no secrets. She was absolutely OK with everything – until we moved in & got settled.

We love it here at Bay Palms RV Resort. From the heated pool to the monthly events held in the pavilion.

They have everything you could ask for here and then some. Laundry and bathhouses, play ground and sport court, gym and a dog park. They even have a fishing cleaning station! Propane, ice and quarter exchange provided in park as well.

The sites are all very spacious and you can get a picnic table upon request. Full-timers mixed with travelers are all welcoming. The managers are amazing and will help you with just about anything. The park is always clean and ready for you to enjoy. Rates are reasonable when you add is all the amenities you receive including water, sewer and wifi is included.

We would definitely recommend Bay Palms RV Resort!

Trackrock Campground and Cabins – Blairsville, GA

Trackrock Campground | I-75 Exit Guide

Trackrock Campground and Cabins is 300 acres of meadows, hayfields, and woodlands in the shadow of Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest point.

Completely isolated from all other commercial developments, the property is bordered on three sides by National Forest. Great care is taken to preserve the natural environment. Wildlife, flowers, and flowering shrubs are abundant throughout the campground and surrounding area. There are about 100 level, shaded, uncrowded campsites with water and electricity. Some sites are pull-through, and about half have sewer hookups as well. Bath houses located in the camping area are clean and equipped with hot showers.

One and two bedroom cabins are available for those who prefer not to camp. The cabins are fully furnished, including kitchens, and have covered porches, picnic tables and grills.

The office and recreation building, or Talking House (guests just naturally seem to congregate there in the evenings) also offers a laundry facility, ice, firewood, and LP gas.

Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort – Mayo, FL

Suwannee River Rendezvous | RVBuddy.com

Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort is a beautiful place to camp. Convict Springs has history connected with it. There is a lot to do here, Kayaks, and Canoes for rent however most of it is on weekends. They have trips floating down the river. It sounds like fun.

The park is very large, and located right on the Suwannee river. There are 3 sections. The upper one is pretty level, with almost all paved roads and gravel sites with a lot of pull through sites. All the trees are very small, with virtually no shade. It would be really hot in the summertime. The lower section, which is the older area is sand roads and sites. There are many trees and lots of shade.

The lot we were in, #47 was almost level side to side, but not at all lengthwise. With our trailer, front to back wasn’t a problem, and a board under the wheels on the low side fixed the side to side. We have stayed at worse. Along the riverbank there are what appears to be areas for tents. It would be fun to camp in a tent along the banks of such a famous river.

It is very quiet. No Highway noise from anywhere.

Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort is about 6 miles to the nearest town, Mayo, so bring supplies. The nearest Walmart is Live Oak, Fl. Maybe 30 miles away. We had lunch at The Mayo Cafe. in Mayo, Fl. about 6 miles away. It is a smörgåsbord, and not bad. Check your plates and silverware.

On the Plus side:
The people in the office are very friendly and helpful. It has a restaurant/diner open weekends, Friday through Sunday only. The office is on the river and has a large lodge. It’s nice. There are video games, TV, Book Swap, and they have a small store with a few essentials. There is a playground. There is a large Dog Park with 3 sections . It is a nice one, but the only place in the whole RV park with doggy a bag container, and when I was there the container was empty.

Minus:
To get to the campground you must navigate a, dusty road. The check in office is a long way from the sites, especially the upper ones. There is a parking lot for RVs at the upper area. It’s not possible to drive to the office with your RV, unless you have a very small one or are good at backing up. They recommend you go to your site and get set up then go to the office and check in.

Although they spend a lot of time cleaning the park, not much seems to be spent repairing stuff. Our site (47) had 2 power receptacles, each in a different place. The post where the water and one electric is located is rotten in the ground and about to fall over. The restrooms in the lower section are clean, but old and badly in need of paint. There is no cable in the lower section. Our phone service was marginal. There is no Wifi there, and even when I walked to where I could get a signal, (right next to the office) I couldn’t get a connection. I tried in the upper section, and I could connect, but couldn’t hold a connection long enough to do anything. Virtually no TV over the air. Got one station (3 channels) from the college in Gainesville. Gasoline in Mayo is about 20 cents more expensive than anywhere else.

Bottom line:
We will come back. It is a beautiful place to get away. The people are friendly and helpful. There are lots of areas to walk. Following the riverbank was fun. I’m not much good with canoes, and have never been in a kayak, but sounds like fun for those youngsters who do. Weekends there is a lot going on.
